DevOps Engineer

We're looking for a DevOps Engineer to join a high-impact team supporting mission-critical systems for enterprise applications in cloud and on-premise environments. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical knowledge with proactive problem-solving, stakeholder engagement, and strong security-first thinking.
This is a hands-on engineering role requiring demonstrated experience in cloud-native DevSecOps practices, secure infrastructure management, and lifecycle support for complex systems. You'll also be expected to help optimize operations, support compliance initiatives, and lead system modernization efforts.
Responsibilities:
- Deploy, support, and troubleshoot enterprise web applications using AWS and Tomcat; perform in-depth log analysis for root cause identification
- Maintain and harden AWS-hosted environments (EC2, RDS, Lambda, KMS, etc.) with CI/CD support and automation tooling (GitLab, Terraform, Jenkins)
- Perform OS and software upgrades across Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Rocky, Ubuntu) and Windows platforms
- Monitor infrastructure health using tools like Cloudwatch, Icinga, SIEM, Kibana and custom logs to ensure high availability
- Support and maintain encryption technologies (KMS, Vormetric, PKI) and manage certificate lifecycles
- Provide incident response and after-hours support for outages and security events (on-call/pager duty)
- Draft and maintain technical documentation (SOPs, Architecture Diagrams, ATO artifacts, After Action Reports)
- Track and manage privileged access, database credentials, and system accounts securely
- Participate in architecture reviews and help drive infrastructure optimization efforts
- Coordinate with software developers, security teams, and stakeholders to ensure system reliability and compliance
Required Technical Skills and Experience:
- 3–5+ years of specific experience supporting cloud-hosted web applications and infrastructure
- Strong Linux/Unix administration experience with scripting (Shell, Python, Bash)
- Demonstrated expertise in AWS core services (EC2, RDS, Lambda, S3, KMS, CloudFormation)
- Experience troubleshooting Tomcat/Java-based web applications
- Familiarity with DevSecOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure as code
- Proven track record of handling compliance documentation (e.g., ATO, POA&Ms, contingency planning)
- Experience with monitoring, vulnerability scanning, and proactive incident response
- Excellent written communication skills for documentation and stakeholder reporting
Desired Skills and Experience:
- Experience migrating or modernizing legacy systems to the cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP)
- Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)
- Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and orchestration
- Working knowledge of RDBMS platforms (PostgreSQL, MySQL, Oracle, Kafka)
- Prior experience supporting federal customers or FedRAMP-compliant environments
- Understanding of security frameworks (NIST CSF, RMF) and incident handling

The likely salary range for this position is $158,855 - $214,921. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
