Operations Supervisor
The successful candidate must provide technical assistance and overall direction to a team of hourly representative employees. Core to this position is the successful performance of the team's safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvement.
Effective communication, leadership, creating a positive team environment with employees and peers is key to success for the selected candidate. This position of Operations Supervisor provides a platform to gain a working knowledge of various manufacturing environments and their relationships with other parts of Electric Boat business. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer or experienced trades-person to advance into a career-building leadership position and gain invaluable experience to support their career development.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Lead the activities of approximately 10-15 hanger welding employees in the performance of welding of hangers on hull to support ships systems
- Coach and Mentor welders to establish a driven and skilled workforce
- Primary point of contact to interface with engineering, ship's management, quality and other trade departments
- Lead the team to achievement of company goals for safety, quality, cost, schedule and continuous improvement
- Take ownership of team performance
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 3+ years of trade, manufacturing, and or military experience
- Structural, pipefitting and/or welding experience
Preferred:
- College/technical school AS/BS degree
- Previous supervisory experience
- Previous related Military/Navy experience
- Knowledge of VIRIGINA or CLB submarines
Skills
- Have the ability to read and interpret blueprints, procedures, and related reference documents
- Have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with subordinates and supervisors
- Must be able to work all assigned shifts
- Must be able to work extended hours
- Applicant must obtain and maintain a DOD security clearance as a condition of employment
- Capable of reading, interpreting and putting into effect plans, procedures and instructions
- Good presentation skills and attention to detail preferred
- Proficient in MS Word, Excel and Power Point preferred
