Supplier Quality Principal Engineer, Sales & Service
The Supplier Quality Principal Engineer, Sales & Service is a senior technical leader in supplier quality, responsible for driving performance, strategy, and continuous improvement across a complex supplier portfolio. This role leads supplier selection, qualification, development, and performance management while ensuring compliance with Quality Management System (QMS) and regulatory requirements. Operating as a principal level individual contributor, this role shapes supplier quality practices, influences cross functional and business priorities, and applies deep technical and business judgment to high impact decisions. The Supplier Quality Principal Engineer partners closely with Sourcing, Service, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Product Management to deliver positive quality, customer, and total cost outcomes.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Drive supplier quality strategy and execution for assigned suppliers, commodities, or Services portfolios
- Lead supplier qualification, selection, and approval processes using structured risk assessment and compliance requirements
- Serve as Supplier Quality technical authority for Supplier Audits and Sales & Services areas
- Plan, lead, and approve supplier audits (qualification, surveillance, and special audits) and ensure effective follow-up of corrective actions
- Own supplier performance outcomes, establish priorities, and lead data-driven improvement plans using supplier scorecards and KPIs
- Lead complex root cause investigations and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) activities to drive sustainable, systemic improvements
- Influence Supplier Quality policies, standards, and best practices, shaping functional processes and ways of working
- Partner with senior stakeholders across functions to reduce Cost of Quality and improve customer experience
- Coach and mentor Supplier Quality Engineers and act as an escalation point for technically complex or high-risk supplier issues
- Represent Supplier Quality in cross-functional, regional, or global initiatives requiring strong technical credibility and leadership
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in: Engineering, Logistics, Business, or another appropriate discipline
- 8–12+ years of progressive experience in a regulated or complex industrial environment such as Supplier Quality, Quality Engineering, Manufacturing, or Engineering
- Demonstrated expertise in supplier audits, qualification, performance management, and regulatory compliance to 21 CFR 820 and ISO 13485 standards
- Proven ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive change
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making skills
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and/or internationally as required, up to 30%.
