Systems Engineer

These innovative applications will be layered onto the existing global install base of Mammography (Mammo), Digital Breast Tomosynthesis (DBT), and X-ray devices—transforming hardware into intelligent platforms that deliver enhanced clinical and operational value. The project centers on the development of solutions that leverage AI-driven guidance to assist patients throughout radiologic procedures. The system integrates advanced technologies including computer vision, robotics, and intelligent control to coordinate imaging tasks.
The Systems Engineer will contribute to the integration and testing of the autonomous X-ray system, ensuring seamless operation across hardware and software components. Key responsibilities include:
- Supporting system-level integration and verification activities.
- Authoring and maintaining system design documentation.
- Contributing to Advanced Technology Development (ATD) documentation.
- Gathering and synthesizing usability and workflow feedback to inform iterative design improvements.
Roles and responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand user needs and pain points.
- Develop and integrate intuitive design and features for Digital/AI products.
- Capture design requirements, draft challenging test procedures, perform integration testing.
- Conducts component and product integration.
- Developing specialized knowledge in their discipline.
- Uses judgment to make decisions or solve moderately complex tasks.
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Uses high level of judgment to make decisions and handle complex tasks.
- May lead functional teams or projects.
- Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality, and timeliness of objectives.
Required skills:
- Knowledge of Linux-based systems and edge device configuration.
- Networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs).
- Hands-on experience with container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Basic understanding of IoT protocols and sensor integration.
- Proficiency in automation tools (Ansible, Terraform) for edge deployments.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for edge environments.
- Authentication and encryption for data in transit and at rest.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a similar STEM degree.
- At least 6 years of commercial development experience in Engineering.
Desired characteristics:
- Knowledge and experience working with X-ray products.
- Regulated product development experience in medical or other highly regulated field.
- Familiarity with edge orchestration frameworks (K3s, OpenShift Edge).
- Higher level language proficiency in Java & or Python.
- Familiarity with Windows-based systems.
- Experience with Agile framework.
- Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills. Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems. Demonstrated ability to lead programs / projects. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs. Established project management skills.
