Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the development of CT detectors. This role will be responsible for driving new designs as well as modifications and improvements, with a strong focus on manufacturability and assembly. The position will also lead cost-reduction and manufacturing transfer projects, collaborating with global teams and suppliers to deliver competitive and high-quality products.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Lead mechanical design activities for new CT detector development and design improvements
  • Ensure design quality by incorporating manufacturing and assembly process considerations
  • Drive cost-reduction initiatives and support manufacturing transfer projects
  • Plan and execute prototype assembly, evaluation, and reporting
  • Collaborate with international teams and suppliers to successfully deliver projects
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers

Qualifications / Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience in mechanical design
  • Proficiency with 3D CAD tools (e.g., Creo)
  • Proven track record in leading both new designs and design modifications
  • Experience in design for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA)
  • Fluent-level Japanese and business-level English communication skills to drive global development work
  • Strong problem-solving skills, technical curiosity, and proactive mindset
  • Team-oriented, adaptable, and able to thrive in a global environment
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with global teams and suppliers

Desired Characteristics

  • Experience in medical devices or precision equipment design
  • Hands-on experience in cost-reduction or manufacturing transfer projects
  • Experience in mentoring or supervising junior engineers
