Advanced Manufacturing Technology Engineer
The role is responsible for working on advanced manufacturing technology activities; specifically, but not limited to, design and development of process/test equipment keeping process automation in focus. Work in close coordination with respective segment product program managers, manufacturing process engineers, design change chairperson, senior architect, and principal engineers to support improvements in product quality through actionable outcomes of process/product design and development. Meet or exceed goals through proactive involvement in product failure investigations and root cause analysis. Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and implementation of automation solutions using industrial robots (e.g., ABB, Fanuc, KUKA, Yaskawa)
- Identify opportunities for process simplification, optimization, and cycle-time reduction through assembly process automation
- Design and develop custom SPMs for assembly, machining, testing, material handling, or inspection applications.
- Create detailed mechanical, electrical, and control system designs, including 3D models, BOMs, and schematics.
- Supervise fabrication, assembly, and commissioning of SPMs in coordination with vendors and internal teams.
- Integrate PLCs, servo systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and sensors into machine designs.
- Ensure SPMs meet performance specifications, safety standards, and industry regulatory requirements.
- Lead trials, validation, and optimization to ensure SPMs deliver target productivity, accuracy, and quality.
- Ensure early focus on manufacturability in NPI and/or Advanced Technology programs. Drive rigor in process capability assessment, process layout, tooling/equipment development, and QMS Design Transfer execution
- Ensure QMS compliance through Qualification & Validation. Responsible for ensuring rigor in determining processes requiring validation, development of plans and analysis criteria, execution and final analysis and acceptance.
- Engage in technical discussions; participate in technical designs and present technical ideas.
- Drive design reviews, define interfaces between code modules, and apply existing technology to designs.
- Monitor and improve productivity using Lean Six Sigma or related tools, while ensuring all customer commitments are timely and cost-conscious and met with quality.
- Influencing cross-functional teams to implement quality actions.
- Carries out Engineering design change activities, if needed, by working in close coordination with SDEs (Senior Design Engineers), Architects, Principal Engineers, and cross-functional teams of operations, quality, regulatory, and service.
- Supports regulatory audit readiness (CFDA, GQC, UL, CSA audit, RoHS compliance, MDR transition, etc)
- Supports quality and regulatory audits (internal & External) as needed.
- Involve in mfg. standup as needed. Support Factory initiative (i.e., scrap, inventory reduction, Lean event)
Quality Goals
- Aware of and comply with the GEHC Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.
- Complete all planned Quality & Compliance training within the defined deadlines.
- Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required.
- Ensure compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements.
- Lead continuous improvement activities by driving the implementation of process and product quality improvement initiatives based out of findings from autopsies.
Basic Qualification
- MTech/ME Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Machine Design)/ Automation & Robotics Engineering with 7+ years' work experience in Manufacturing Process Automation & Robotics and Equipment design and development.
- Ability to understand engineering drawing & GD&T in detail and be able to clearly communicate requirements to supplier.
- Knowledge of Tubes and High Voltage generators, and associated systems desirable
