Engineering Leader For Surgery Engineering Team
The Engineering Leader for the Surgery Engineering team in the USA leads a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on designing the best mobile c-arms in the world and is based in Salt Lake City. In that capacity, this position owns the product delivery for the USA designed products and provides a single point of accountability and responsibility to all the business level efforts oriented to improve the overall quality of OEC products designed and made in Salt Lake City, providing cross-functional leadership and single point of contact on this matter to the other functions.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Establish a strong functional leadership of the team, including recruitment, team/talent development, skill set improvement, and mentoring
- Resource assignment and prioritization including headcount and base cost budget
- Instilling a rigorous approach to target costing for new products and driving cost out of existing products
- Driving continuous improvement of systems, products, and processes for the Surgery USA Engineering team
- Working internally to resolve business issues that require cross functional leadership and support.
- Support existing products within Manufacturing, Sourcing, Service and Supplier Quality Engineering
- Drive compliance/closure of Regulatory and Quality requirements before approving design changes
- Strategic planner and thinker with ability to drive change across the site.
- Lead change through creative solutions to unstructured product and system design issues
- Build a continuous improvement culture where every team member is encouraged to identify and address improvement opportunities in their areas of expertise.
Required Qualifications
- This role requires significant experience in Engineering/Technology & Functional Management
- Masters degree in Engineering or equivalent
- Demonstrated engineering knowledge, program management, and business planning processes, having experience with the full product lifecycle
- Previous experience in regulated medical device company
- Demonstrated competency in providing leadership and direction in regards to cross-functional aspects of technology development.
- Functional Experience: Excellent program management, organizational design, execution planning and control competency.
- Understanding of regulated Healthcare industry
- Strong business acumen
- Product Life Cycle Experience: Demonstrated experience on global product releases throughout the entire new product development cycle, managing Field Maintenance Instructions (FMIs) and Installed Base releases

- Preferred Product, Clinical, Technology & Scientific Knowledge: Excellent knowledge of patient/customer and segment related clinical applications and workflow as well as scientific/engineering methods/theory with an affinity for technology and clinical solutions within a functional domain.
