EHS Engineer

As an EHS Engineer, you'll play a key role in ensuring safety and compliance across our operations. You'll support the Cork site, projects, and business areas, applying your expertise to drive safe design (NPI), engage with customers and industry partners, and oversee EHS standards at project or customer locations. This is a hands-on role focused on planning and executing EHS activities within established practices. You'll have autonomy in your work, using sound judgment with guidance when needed, and make a real impact on operational safety and compliance. A construction background is key for this position. Responsibilities

  • Support the Health & Safety Manager in all site safety matters
  • Ensure compliance with company and site-specific safety protocols
  • Conduct site inspections, audits, and daily safety walks
  • Deliver inductions and toolbox talks
  • Review subcontractor documentation (RAMS, SPA, etc.) for compliance
  • Assist in incident investigations and reporting
  • Chair safety meetings and identify gaps and opportunities for improvement
  • Maintain and update the Safety Management System

Qualifications

  • Education: A diploma or degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field is required.

  • Experience: Significant EHS experience within the construction industry is typically necessary. Experience with specific projects or contractor types may also be required.

  • Technical skills: Strong knowledge of EHS regulations and legislation, and proficiency with relevant software and documentation.

  • Soft skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills are essential for working with diverse teams and influencing safety culture.

  • Strong background in construction safety
