Automation & Technical Support Technician

Automation & Technical Support Technician is responsible for supporting the maintenance and optimization of high-speed automated equipment in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. This role is fundamental to ensure equipment reliability, maximize operational efficiency, and drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on high-speed automated machinery and control systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and automation-related issues to minimize downtime.
  • Program and configure production equipment to meet operational requirements.
  • Monitor equipment performance and implement improvements to increase reliability and productivity.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support TPM initiatives and improve OEE.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, equipment modifications, and performance metrics.
  • Assist in the installation, commissioning, and validation of new automation systems or upgrades.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards in all maintenance activities.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions for recurring issues.
  • Support training and knowledge sharing among peers and operators on equipment operation and best practices.
  • Ensure all activities are performed in accordance with the company's established Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • All employees are responsible for minimizing the environmental impacts and health and safety impacts of their work.
  • Consistently ensure technical support coverage in production areas, demonstrating flexibility and a proactive approach to working overtime. This includes providing support during holidays, sickness absences, technical outages, high-demand periods, and other necessary times to maintain continuous operations.

Qualifications:

  • Technical title or certification in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • More than 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with high-speed automated equipment.
  • Solid knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, sensors, actuators, and industrial control systems.
  • Familiarity with TPM, OEE, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and practical approach to fault diagnosis.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Experience in pneumatic and hydraulic systems diagnosis.
  • Intermediate English.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with SCADA systems, robotics, or vision systems.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • Experience with robotics and control systems.
  • Completion of an apprenticeship program in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Strong skills in electrical and electronic repair and diagnostics.
