GEEIQ

A platform providing brands with analytics and insights to optimize their esports and gaming partnership strategies.

Engineering Manager

We're GEEIQ (pronounced 'Geek'), the data platform and insights provider used by the likes of Gucci, Walmart, L'Oreal and Porsche to navigate and engage virtual worlds. Think Ralph Lauren in Fortnite, or Elton John in Roblox.

We believe the metaverse hype is over. Brands demand more than visibility. They need to measure, attribute and identify tangible revenue opportunities. Our platform delivers the data, insights and expertise needed to engage valuable audiences and win in virtual worlds.

Located in Paddington, GEEIQ is a team of ~40 innovators, with ambitious growth plans over the next 24 months. We're predominantly office-based, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Every idea is valued and every team member plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of digital brand experiences.

Our Team

The Engineering department is responsible for building, maintaining, and improving the GEEIQ platform, ensuring stability, performance, and scalability as we grow.

This role will be part of the Engineering team and work in close partnership with Product, Partnerships, and Client Services to ensure our technology delivers against client needs and product vision. You will support and enable the engineering team to deliver high-quality features and infrastructure, while helping to connect Product requirements with Engineering execution in a collaborative and transparent way.

Your Focus

As Engineering Manager at GEEIQ, you will be the go-to person for people management, delivery processes, and engineering operations. You will empower our developers by removing blockers, refining workflows, and ensuring visibility across teams. You'll oversee ticketing, prioritisation, and reporting, while working with Product to scope feasibility and align delivery to roadmap goals.

This role allows our CTO to focus on technology strategy, infrastructure, and technical mentorship, while you take ownership of day-to-day management, process efficiency, and delivery confidence.

Key Responsibilities

People Management

  • Conduct regular 1:1s and support career development for engineers.
  • Identify upskilling needs and opportunities, supporting technical growth.
  • Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing engineering culture.

Delivery & Process Ownership

  • Own the engineering ticketing workflow, from backlog refinement through to sprint planning and delivery.
  • Monitor team progress, identify risks/blockers, and ensure timely delivery of roadmap items.
  • Provide progress updates and reporting to Product and other stakeholders.

Feasibility & Technical Alignment

  • Partner with Product to review feature requirements and assess technical feasibility.
  • Work with engineers and the CTO to define scope, effort estimates, and delivery timelines.
  • Ensure that engineering output meets quality standards and aligns with technical best practices.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a key communication bridge between Engineering and Product, Partnerships, and Client Services.
  • Support Product in translating feature requirements into actionable tickets.
  • Ensure stakeholder visibility into delivery timelines, risks, and dependencies.

Process & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify and implement process improvements across engineering workflows.
  • Drive best practices in delivery, documentation, and collaboration.
  • Support adoption of tools and processes that improve efficiency and reduce overhead.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Experience

  • 3+ years in an engineering management, delivery management, or team lead role within SaaS or data/analytics products.
  • Proven track record of managing engineering teams and delivering complex technical projects.
  • Experience with agile methodologies, sprint planning, and backlog management.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and best practices.

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong organisational and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication, able to bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to balance product priorities with technical feasibility.
  • Skilled at identifying and resolving delivery risks and bottlenecks.

Nice to have

  • Experience in startups or high-growth SaaS environments.
  • Technical background (e.g., prior experience as a developer or architect).
  • Exposure to gaming, media, or partnerships-focused products.
  • Familiarity with BI/analytics workflows and data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Linear, or equivalent for engineering workflow management.

Benefits

  • Be part of shaping the future of the GEEIQ platform by leading and empowering our engineering team.
  • Work at the intersection of technology and product, enabling global brands to measure success in gaming and immersive spaces.
  • Join a collaborative, fast-moving environment where your leadership will directly impact product performance, client outcomes, and team growth.
  • GEEIQ Day - 1 extra day of paid leave per year on top of annual leave allowance
  • Regular Socials - paid socials
  • Flexible Hours - core business hours 10am to 5pm
  • Focus Fridays - option to WFH every Friday
