Occupational Medicine Physician

We are seeking a qualified Occupational Medicine Physician to provide comprehensive Occupational Medical Examinations and Laboratory Services for federal employees of the California Army National Guard (CAARNG). This position supports a federally mandated health surveillance program for personnel who are potentially exposed to toxic workplace hazards.

The selected physician will perform examinations and oversee laboratory testing to ensure compliance with applicable federal health and safety standards. Services will be rendered on a per-test basis, and compensation will be provided only for services completed, as invoiced by Contract Line Item Number (CLIN).

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct occupational medical examinations for approximately 425 CAARNG federal employees annually, as identified by the California Army Occupational Health Officer (CAOHO).
• Order, oversee, and interpret appropriate laboratory testing related to hazardous occupational exposures.
• Ensure all medical and laboratory services comply with federal, state, and military occupational health standards.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of examinations, laboratory findings, and employee health records.
• Submit invoices based on the number of completed tests per designated CLIN.
• Adapt to changes in testing volume due to military operational requirements.
• Collaborate with CAOHO and other military health professionals to identify and monitor health trends among exposed employees.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA and DoD medical privacy regulations.

Required Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with board certification in Occupational Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Preventive Medicine.
• Active and unrestricted medical license in the State of California.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience in occupational health or similar federal health surveillance programs.
• Knowledge of OSHA, DoD, and federal occupational health regulations and guidelines.
• Ability to manage and interpret laboratory testing related to occupational exposures (e.g., heavy metals, solvents, etc.).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience working with military or federal agencies.
• Familiarity with CLIN-based federal contracting and invoicing.
• Previous work in hazardous materials (HAZMAT) or industrial hygiene-related medical surveillance.

Compensation & Invoicing

• Services will be compensated on a per-test basis, with no flat salary or retainer.
• Invoicing will be submitted by CLIN number, based strictly on the number and type of tests completed.
• No payment will be made for unused services.
