Senior Fullstack Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for tackling our most complex and ambiguous challenges. As a proficient coder and systems thinker, you will move beyond implementation to own the architecture and strategy for key components of our systems. In this role, you'll apply your deep expertise to design and deliver data-intensive, highly consistent, and secure software solutions. You will be instrumental in driving our modernization efforts, influencing the technical roadmap, and mentoring other engineers. Crucially, you will regularly identify 'big rock' architectural and systemic problems, partnering with Senior Staff and Principal Engineers to drive impactful resolutions. You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking ownership of large-scale projects from conception to launch. This requires building trust with cross-functional partners and using data to make principle-based decisions. You'll obsess over operational excellence, proactively identifying and mitigating risks to ensure the long-term health and reliability of our applications. This is a remote role, requiring exceptional communication and collaboration skills to lead and thrive in a distributed team environment across the US and LATAM.

What You'll Do:

  • Lead the architecture and development of sophisticated, mission-critical web applications using modern technologies like React, Next.js, and TypeScript.
  • Build robust, scalable backend systems and APIs with Python, making key design decisions that impact the entire team.
  • Drive our technical strategy by contributing to the team's roadmap, establishing new engineering best practices, and evaluating emerging technologies.
  • Develop and execute the strategy for modernizing legacy systems, leading complex data migrations and tech-stack migrations (predominantly PHP to modern stacks in React, Next.JS).
  • Champion a security-first culture by designing and implementing robust security patterns, including fine-grained RBAC, encryption, and comprehensive auditability.
  • Mentor and coach other engineers on the team, helping to level-up their skills through code reviews, design discussions, and direct guidance.
  • Serve as a key escalation point during on-call rotations, leading root-cause analysis for complex production issues and driving solutions to prevent recurrence.

What We're Looking For:

  • Advanced System Design: You're highly proficient in designing complex, data-intensive, and secure applications. You have strong architectural opinions and experience making critical decisions about data storage (SQL, NoSQL, Search optimized storage), caching strategies (e.g., Redis), identity management (e.g., Auth0/Okta), and how cloud services fit together to create a cohesive system.
  • Full-Stack & Technology Mastery: You have a proven track record of shipping high-quality products and demonstrable excellence in software implementation and coding. You have expert-level proficiency in building modern user interfaces with React, Next.js, and TypeScript. You are a strong backend engineer with significant experience in Python (e.g., FastAPI) and PHP (e.g., Zend), particularly in the context of maintaining and modernizing critical legacy systems.
  • Proficient in Data Layer Technologies: You have a mastery of large-scale relational databases, especially Oracle, with expert-level SQL skills for complex data modeling and query optimization.
  • Cloud & DevOps Expertise: You have a mastery of modern cloud-native practices, including deep experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, EKS) and CI/CD automation (GitLab, ArgoCD).
  • Obsession with Operational Excellence: You are a leader in building reliable and efficient systems. This is demonstrated by your commitment to comprehensive automated testing (unit, integration, E2E with tools like Playwright), designing for scalability and cost-optimization, and owning the full lifecycle of observability using platforms like Datadog or Splunk to manage metrics, alerts, and runbooks. You excel as an on-call leader.
  • Leadership & Strategic Problem-Solving: You are a strategic thinker who can navigate ambiguity, resolve complex issues, and break down large projects into actionable milestones. You demonstrate a strong sense of ownership, work autonomously, and build trust with stakeholders through excellent communication and mentorship.
