Job Summary
The Warehouse Associate III is responsible for being the complete, seamless back up to the shipper receiver and is able to ship all customer orders accurately and timely while adapting to changes and requests throughout each day. They need to be flexible enough with their schedule to manage the tasks of the shipper/receiver while also being part of the warehouse team and knowledgeable in Warehouse Associate II team member tasks. The ideal candidate thrives in environments where safety, quality, service and cost are the highest priorities. The Warehouse Associate III team member provides consistent support to his/her teammates as well as the shipper/receiver at their location. They also assist in coordinating backup and support for all logistics functions related to all plants on site for TPO, ISO and Injection Molding shipments daily. The Warehouse Associate III team member will be able to effectively step in and perform any of the individual jobs in the department, in the absence of other team members.
Essential Duties
- Own the raw material cycle count process for a portion of the count week (TPO, IM or ISO)
- Own the FIFO audits to ensure the process is being met appropriately
- Own the kan ban walks and communicate the numbers back to the plant buyer
- Organizing, prioritizing and communication, ownership skills are critical.
- Some drivers are not bilingual; ability to communicate effectively with diverse
- Ability to adapt daily schedule. Warehouse Associate III must be willing and able to support work through lunch and break times when drivers are ready to load. Breaks will be shifted to slower times during the day.
- Must be able to lead shipping and warehousing projects and provide positive working relationships as well as the environment (kaizen events, CI projects, ETC)
- On deliveries, he/she is responsible to support the shipper/receiver while they are working to collect BOL, packing slips and/or invoices for every shipment received. The Warehouse Associate III team member will verify quantities, and continue to teach other crew members to count and verify receivables as well. Correct data will be entered into PeopleSoft, Maximo and/or other applicable systems.
- The Warehouse Associate III team member will support the Shipper/Receiver upon communication from all radio transmissions for receiving. This includes facilitating incoming trucks, shipments, and directing them to which door to go.
- The Warehouse Associate III team member will support the team to determine in advance when a load will be varied due to instructions on flexible vary items. He/she will follow up with the shipper/receiver to complete the documentation process, to ensure WMS quantities are correct and match customer billing.
- Maintain email communication throughout the day to stay immediately aware of emergencies, order changes, new LTL's, and other Customer Care needs and demands.
- Ensure truck drivers understand correct tarping, strapping, edge protectors and all loading procedures.
- The Warehouse Associate III team member will support the Shipper/Receiver and will confirm appointment time with driver and collect executed Job Site Form, if applicable, along with Bills of Lading documents.
- Throughout the day, will keep Carrier Point updated, tracking inbounds and outbounds, including tracking pallets shipped and received as needed due to workload of the shipper/receiver or lead.
- Work closely with Supply Chain Manager and provide back-up cover when necessary
- Support the shipper/receiver with Preparing daily work assignments by reviewing and printing pick slips, transfer tickets, etc.
- Double-check picking of order per established procedures
- Process paperwork for shipments, including BOL, packing slip and depletion as needed based on the shipper/receivers work load
- Follow and document Hazardous Materials Transportation Guidelines for all shipments
- Post receipts for deliveries both for onsite deliveries as well as at our Offsite warehouse, including PeopleSoft and Maximo and communicate with our warehouse partners offsite.
- Dispatch orders for TRUCKS, LTL's, SM PKG, and CONTAINER shipments
- Process system for LTL's and SM PKG through associated carrier systems
- Process export documents against shipping guidelines
- Process RMA paperwork and dispatch Carrier for pickup
- Facilitate monthly raw material cycle counts and work with Shipping Lead on all recounts
- Complete the weekly Kan Ban cycle count walks and turn the counts into the Plant Buyer
- Assure all activities are performed safely
- Relieve Warehouse Associates as needed for breaks and lunches
- Coordinate projects with Shipping Lead to ensure the overall productivity of the crew
- Observe what needs to be done and perform and/or facilitate this work
- Verify the production count each morning and provide feedback and confirmation to the production manager
- Implement, Audit and train employees on the FIFO process to ensure proper warehouse practices are being followed and maintained.
- Train new warehouse employees in the mentorship program; continue to teach, train and develop existing employees as needed
- Assume leadership with the Shipping Lead in Safety and Housekeeping throughout each shift
- Ensure that all departmental expectations are met or exceeded
- Unload/load trucks when needed; other duties as assigned
Qualifications Required
- H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required
- 3 years' experience in a fast paced, logistics manufacturing environment Required
- Experience supporting logistics, customer care and business goals Required
