We're looking for a reliable and proactive Shore Services Assistant to join our small, fast-paced team based at Queens Wharf in the heart of Auckland's CBD. This full-time, permanent position plays a key role within our Marine Operations Department, helping to ensure our vessels are serviced efficiently and effectively. As we operate 7 days a week, 365 days a year, this is a rostered role that includes early starts, weekends, and public holidays. Shifts start between 4.30am - 9am and finish latest 6pm.
Waste management support: Assist with the coordination of vessel waste pump-outs, maintaining radio communication with operations to manage scheduling. Food and beverage logistics: Monitor stock levels, restock supplies, and maintain a tidy and organised storage area for onboard food and beverage services. Freight coordination: Manage the movement of freight to and from Waiheke. This includes regular physical tasks and heavy lifting. Lost property handling: Communicate with customers regarding items left on vessels. Strong communication and customer service skills are essential for engaging with both internal and external clients. Uniform and admin support: Assist with the management of staff uniforms and provide general administrative support as required.
This is a hands-on, physically active role suited to someone who enjoys working as part of a team in a dynamic environment and takes pride in supporting operational excellence behind the scenes.
Must hold a full Class 1 driver's licence and have access to your own reliable vehicle, or live within walking distance of the Auckland CBD ferry terminal. Due to early morning starts and shift work, reliable transport is essential. Strong organisational skills and excellent time management, with the ability to prioritise tasks and respond quickly to operational needs. A clear sense of urgency and the ability to stay focused under pressure are key to success in this fast-paced environment. A flexible approach to working hours is required, as this is a rostered position involving early mornings, weekends, and public holidays. Previous freight handling or warehouse experience is an advantage, but not essential. Full training will be provided to the right candidate with the right attitude and willingness to learn.
