Engineering (Mechanical) Intern
As an Engineering (Mechanical) Intern with Fugro Subsea Technologies, you will have the opportunity to play a vital role in the design, development, and testing of mechanical systems and equipment for Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV/eROV). You will work alongside a team of experienced engineers and gain practical experience in various aspects of mechanical engineering, including design, analysis, prototyping, and testing. This position will be reporting to the Mechanical Design Engineer Team Lead.
Responsibilities
- Design and Development: Assist in the design and development of mechanical components and systems for subsea equipment. This may include concept generation, 3D modelling, detailed design, and prototyping.
- Analysis and Simulation: Support the team in performing engineering analysis and simulations using tools such as finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD). Analyse and optimize mechanical designs for performance, durability, and reliability.
- Documentation and Reporting: Contribute to creating and maintaining detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, technical reports, test procedures, and drawings. Ensure that all documentation adheres to quality and regulatory standards.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, technicians, and project managers, to ensure seamless communication and successful project execution. Participate in design reviews and provide input and feedback on mechanical designs.
- Research and Innovation: Stay updated on the latest advancements in electronics design technologies and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the department.
- Safety and Compliance: Comply with all safety guidelines and regulations, maintaining a safe and secure working environment.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and thermodynamics.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for modelling and design.
- Familiarity with engineering analysis tools such as FEA and CFD is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Self-motivated and passionate about mechanical engineering.
