Permanent position (CDI) – Starting February 2026, Vendôme (41) – Bel Group Research & Innovation Center
Your key responsibilities:
Data Analysis and Modeling
- Analyze complex datasets integrating analytical chemistry, sensory, and consumer data.
- Develop and apply machine learning models to predict sensory attributes from molecular composition.
- Build computational tools and workflows to automate analysis and support decision-making.
Data Management and Reporting
- Collaborate with analytical chemists to interpret VOC data in relation to flavor and taste.
- Work with sensory experts to establish interpretable links between chemistry and perception.
- Contribute to hypothesis-driven research projects, integrating computational modeling with experimental results.
Computational Engineering
- Write clean, reusable Python code for data processing, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling.
- Apply advanced methods such as clustering, regression, dimensionality reduction, and neural networks.
- Maintain and improve reproducible workflows for research teams.
Knowledge Integration and Innovation
- Explore scientific literature to identify new methods for flavor prediction and AI-driven design.
- Translate findings into practical insights for product development and innovation.
- Support the team in building a knowledge base connecting chemistry, biology, and the senses.
Your profile:
Required qualifications
- Master's degree in biochemistry, analytical chemistry, computational biology, or a related field.
- Strong experience with analytical chemistry techniques (GC-MS, TOF, SIFT-MS).
- Proficiency in Python (data management, statistics, machine learning libraries).
- Hands-on experience applying machine learning methods to scientific datasets.
- Understanding of the biology/biochemistry of taste and smell.
- Strong background in statistics and data management.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in chemometrics, flavor chemistry, or sensory modeling.
- Knowledge of chemical and sensory information databases.
- Familiarity with cloud computing or data engineering practices.
- Project experience in AI/ML applied to chemistry or biology.
