Environmental Service Worker

Minimum starting salary $15.50 / hour

The Environmental Service Worker is responsible for maintaining environmental standards within established policies and procedures of Ozark Center and to perform a variety of general cleaning tasks to maintain patient rooms, bathrooms, offices, hallways, and other assigned areas of the organization. They provide services to individuals impacted by a variety of behavioral health (addiction/substance abuse and mental health) issues, recognizing that the individuals we serve often times have experienced trauma that affects their development and adjustment. They demonstrate a warm and welcoming empathic, hopeful attitude, conveying a philosophy of dual recovery. They will be trained in trauma-informed care and will work to help provide services in an environment that is sensitive and responsive which will prevent victimization, abuse, or trauma as a result of the care received. This position reports directly to the Maintenance Supervisor.

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience in institutional housekeeping.

Responsibilities:

  • Dust furniture, woodwork and equipment in client waiting and reception areas.
  • Wet mop hard surface floors as needed and vacuum carpets.
  • Clean vents, fan fixtures, top of windows, doorframes, and other high areas using a ladder, gather and dispose of trash and waste materials using specified bags and/or containers.
  • Clean/disinfect all fixtures, floors, mirrors, windows, door handles and walls of bathrooms. Keep cleaning equipment clean/in good repair and assist with other cleaning duties as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lift, push and pull items up to 50 pounds
  • Stand and walk for long periods of time
  • Work in precarious or high locations (ladders, etc.)
  • Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and crouching
  • Exposure to housekeeping cleaning agents and/or chemicals
  • Exposure to noise
  • Exposure to blood and/or body fluids
  • TB test upon hire.
