Senior Staff Engineer for F-22 System Safety Team
You will be a Senior Staff Engineer for the F-22 System Safety Team, supporting software safety. Our team is a specialty engineering organization that is tasked with executing a System Safety program to identify and control safety hazards to an acceptable risk. System Safety programs ensure safe operations across the entire enterprise (operations, maintenance, heavy maintenance, support equipment, etc.) are maintained using MIL-STD-882 as guidance.
As a Senior Staff Engineer you will be responsible for performing analyses for hazard identification, evaluation, control, and coordination in support of software safety activities for internal and external stakeholders of the F-22 platform. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting software development, software test and software release cycles as a safety expert.
- Supporting System Safety Program Plan development and execution.
- Performing analyses for hazard identification, evaluation and control using quantitative and qualitative analysis techniques typically used in the design of aircraft weapon systems and sustainment activities.
- Leadership of contractual effort(s) for the system safety team to meet deadlines with high technical quality; coordinate and collaborate with the internal safety team, product development teams, company leadership, and customer entities; and contribute to the growth of the system safety competency within the team thru on the job teaching and process improvement.
- Oversight and leadership of qualitative and quantitative hazard analyses to conduct risk assessments and trade studies needed to evaluate and optimize design choices and recommend appropriate controls to mitigate safety hazards.
- Interface and coordination of system safety activities with design teams, suppliers, internal management and external customers.
- Understanding adjacent disciplines for efficient collaboration and trade-offs supporting all program objectives.
The candidate must be capable of establishing system and software safety requirements in accordance with the appropriate standard and evaluating the functional impacts of noncompliance in coordination with design SMEs. This is considered a technical expert position within the system safety discipline.

You will need to be a US Citizen, and be able to obtain and maintain a US DoD SECRET clearance, to support this government contract, as well as successfully pass a drug and background check, in order to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. This position is located at a facility that requires special access and a security clearance. This position is in Fort Worth, TX.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering or related STEM discipline
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience with communicating cross-functionally
- Full life-cycle experience with system safety analyses, standards, and tools
- Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams in the resolution of highly complex issues, including direct interaction with senior leadership within company and customer organizations and a demonstrated ability to deal with complex and challenging customer and supplier relationships
Desired Skills:
- Safety critical software architectural design, coding or test experience
- Software quality experience
- Experience with software safety requirements across the full development lifecycle from hazard identification through development to system/software qualification test
- Military or civilian flight experience
- Knowledge of MIL-STD-882, MIL-HDBK-516, ARP-4761, and/or ARP-4754
- Knowledge of FAA and military regulations and processes
- Previous experience writing technical reports on complex subject matter
- Experience with military or government programs
- Knowledge of Statistical Analysis Methods
- Model-based system engineering (MBSE) experience
- Experience working with international customers and suppliers
- Government contract execution experience

These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits. Schedule for this Position: 4x10 hour day, 3 days off per week.
