As part of our Manufacturing team, you'll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles we're known for. In our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. Manufacturing engineer for PTME in hypoid gear machining. Work with a cross-functional team to runoff, install, and commission new machining processes for future programs.
Support development and implementation of Crankshafts and Gears manufacturing systems for new powertrain programs in southeast Michigan and Ohio.
Utilize machining process knowledge, particularly steel and iron metal cutting and grinding to deliver an efficient and optimized process regarding quality, costs, timing, and footprint.
Lead equipment installation, power on, run capability, and equipment handover to the powertrain plants.
Initiate bids, evaluate, recap bids for equipment purchase; work with Purchasing to write and place orders.
Work with OEMs, suppliers, Product, and Plant engineering teams to resolve engineering and program delivery issues.
Interface and coordinate project related items such as facilities, safety, ergonomics, material handling & kitting, tooling, and gauging.
Support discrete event simulation for constraint analysis; work with Industrial Engineers (IE) to assess and improve throughput.
Travel up to 100% to SE Michigan and Ohio Manufacturing Plants during equipment installation and launch.
Work with multiple vendors to deliver machining processes to SAP.
Work with the plant launch, engineering, and UAW to achieve capability for each process.
Manage timing and cost for each process you are responsible for.
Update and create documentation (DCP, PFMEA, etc) for future models.
Bachelor of Science in Engineering
2+ years of engineering and manufacturing experience
Working knowledge of GD&T reading engineering drawings
Strong communication skills along with the ability to work in a cross functional team
Strong organization skills with the ability to handle complex projects with multiple objectives
Familiarity of Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma
Proven record of customer focused work

This position is a range of salary grades 6-8.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
