Team Lead Product Development

The Team Lead Product Development leads a team of Software Engineers, Software Solution Architects and QA Engineers. He/she is responsible for and coordinates the development and maintenance of critical business applications for the fund and banking industry in an agile environment, with a focus on investment account management / tax functionalities. The position includes functional and technical coordination with other areas such as Product Management, Support and Operations. The operational and consistent implementation of corporate and divisional goals, as well as the continuous development and promotion of employees in their own team are the main tasks of the Team Lead Product Development. This role requires an agile mindset and serves as a role model for a modern corporate and management culture.

Main tasks of the position:

  • Disciplinary and technical management of the team
  • Experience in the software development of multi-tier web applications and the relevant architecture concepts/technologies, preferably Java, Spring and Angular/React
  • Supporting the assigned employees in accomplishing their tasks
  • Coaching and supporting employees in personal and methodological development topics
  • Supporting the recruiting of new employees
  • Defining and tracking employee targets in line with company and divisional objectives
  • Conducting staff appraisals
  • Defining and planning training measures for employees in line with requirements
  • Organizing the regular transfer of expertise within the team and beyond
  • Forward-looking planning and management of the team's capacities for implementing product and technology roadmaps and customer requirements/projects
  • Selecting and managing external employees in projects (on-site and nearshore)
  • Managing, monitoring and continuously improving the software development process
  • Implementation of and compliance with company-wide technology, quality, security and process standards and targets
  • Co-design of agile approaches in software development
  • Primary contact person for product management, support and other teams
  • Being a contact person for customers, especially with regard to more in-depth technical topics
  • Support in the pre-sales process to present and explain technical aspects of the software products
  • Management of software development projects in the area of investment account management / tax and related topics
  • Support in analysis and evaluation of requirements in the area of investment account management / transfer agency and support in solution design
  • Ensuring the sustainable development and continuous maintenance of software products in the area of investment account management / tax
  • Contribution in day-to-day operations

Side tasks of the position:

  • Participation in the implementation of division and company-wide initiatives for the strategic further development of processes, products and technologies

Formal Education:

  • Degree in (business) informatics or a comparable, successfully completed technical education, alternatively relevant professional experience
  • More than 10 years of professional experience at a software company or in a comparable position
  • Sound professional experience in software development
  • Sound experience in managing and developing employees using relevant methodologies

Qualifications/Skills/Personality Traits:

Work experience:

  • Basic technical knowledge of the financial industry
  • Strong communication skills, empathy and talent for leading employees in an appreciative manner
  • Familiar with coaching and moderation as well as methodical and conceptual know-how
  • Proven organizational and planning skills, especially in an agile environment
  • Several years of experience in the development of software applications, services and functions for the financial industry.
  • Experience in the software development of multi-tier web applications and the relevant architecture concepts/technologies, preferably Java, Spring and Angular/React is a benefit
  • Very good technological understanding of contemporary, distributed software architectures and container platform technologies
  • Experience with agile development methods such as SCRUM
  • Several years of experience in the conception and development of software capabilities in the area of investment account management / tax
  • Experience in leading software development teams with more than 5 employees
