This is a Senior Human Services Program Analyst position in an Epidemiology Program. This position has countywide duties. Work is performed under the supervision of the Community Health Nursing Consultant. This position requires independent judgment, initiative, applying general knowledge of business practices and skill in applying instructions to accomplish various job functions. This position will be working with other departmental staff and collaborative partners. This position has responsibilities that relate to data management using computer resources for compiling, organizing, analyzing and summarizing data. Conduct case investigations, management, and interviews of reportable diseases, food-borne complaints, and during outbreaks. This position will support the department and work with others in an effort to accomplish the goals of the Epidemiology and Disease Control program and Florida Department of Health-Palm Beach County Health Department (FDOH-CHD).
This position is designated as a sensitive position and is required to maintain confidential information in accordance with the Florida Department of Health (FDOH) Palm Beach County Health Department (CHD) Information Security Policy, Protocols and Procedures. Makes a reasonable effort to adhere to established safety procedures and practices in the work area and complies with information security policies and procedures. This position has access to Epidemiology and the Clinical Information Data Sets. Health Management System (HMS) access to demographics, financial, immunization, clinical data and lab for the purpose of locating and up-dating information necessary for investigation, case management and reporting of communicable disease cases. Has access to Florida Shots for the purpose of locating information necessary to investigate and manage and report cases of vaccine preventable diseases.
Conducts case investigations and interviews for reportable communicable diseases, food-borne complaints and during outbreaks. Investigations are documented and reported according to established procedures and timeframes. Assists the enhanced disease surveillance team during surge capacity events. This may entail interviewing subjects and using other data gathering methods. Access MERLIN and other EPI databases. Responsible to update and MEDIC – Manual for Enhanced Disease Intervention and Control as needed.
Responds to the public and health care provider's requests for information about communicable diseases and disease control issues. Assists with the preparation of reports and educational materials. Assists with quality assurance reviews. Communicates frequently with Hospital Infection Control Practitioners to facilitate reporting and effective communication between the hospital and health department staff.
Participates in team meetings, annual meeting with the infection control practitioners and other meetings and trainings within the program and Health Department. Participates in orientation of new staff and residents to the communicable disease program. Performs as an active member of the EP Strike Team and is subject to deployment as needed.
