This position's primary function is to provide excellent customer service as the first point of contact in the Florida State Parks. Responsibilities include greeting customers at the park entrance station and visitor center, providing information pertaining to the park and surrounding areas, informing visitors of the park features as well as any current and upcoming park activities and events, interpreting rules, answering questions and providing interpretive/educational information to visitors. Collect fees for park entrance and annual permits, monitor and answer park radios, coordinate, develop and assist in the operation of revenue generating activities. Perform maintenance of the exterior and interior of the entrance station including washing windows, dusting furniture, cleaning floors, servicing restrooms and sweeping area. Performs related work as required.

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include basic arithmetic and good public relations, ability to handle money and make change, prepare and maintain accurate reports, communicate effectively verbally and in writing, identify and investigate problems, maintain facilities and equipment, follow verbal and written instructions, perform light physical labor, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, deal with visitors in a tactful, efficient and courteous manner, understand and apply rules, directives, policies and procedures, operate office equipment, cash register, credit card machine and park radios, stand for long periods of time while collecting fees, and work rotating shifts including nights, holidays and weekends.

Minimum qualifications include a valid driver's license.

This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position. Pay is $17.00 per hour.
