Ops Dental Assistant - 64908210

The OPS Dental Assistant position is expected to work four days per week (32 hours).

Responsibilities include:

  • Passing instruments to dentist during procedures and taking dental X-rays
  • Laying out instruments and making patients comfortable
  • Suctioning during treatment
  • Applying sealants, cavity liners, varnishes, and bases
  • Charting existing restorations and oral conditions
  • Removing surgical dressings
  • Placing or removing rubber dams or temporary restorations
  • Applying topical fluorides
  • Taking impressions
  • Taking digital radiographs
  • Providing oral hygiene instructions
  • Preparing and maintaining the operatory room and clinic
  • Operating computer systems to enter patient information
  • Assisting with inventory and supply monitoring
  • Monitoring work email
  • Entering time worked in People First and EARS
  • Identifying process improvement opportunities

Other duties include:

  • Performing clerical duties
  • Entering time worked in People First and EARS
  • Attending mandatory trainings
  • Other duties as assigned

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

  • Knowledge of dental terminology
  • Ability to use dental equipment
  • Knowledge and experience in working with children
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Knowledge of sterilization procedures
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Knowledge of dental insurance
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment
  • Ability to interact professionally with staff and the public
  • Proficiency in internet and computer systems
  • Ability to document patient records
  • Knowledge of Eaglesoft Software a plus
  • Knowledge of HMS State of Florida a plus

Qualifications include:

  • A valid Florida driver's license (or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire) is required
  • A FL Board of Dentistry certificate in radiology and expanded duties is required
  • Fluency in English/Spanish or English/Creole is preferred
