The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and support for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children ages 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co-payment for services provided through the Agency. Salary Range: $19.50/hourly

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The incumbent in this position possesses the authority during after-hours, weekends, and holidays to perform administrative and consultative work in the identification and resolution of operational or management problems within the ICF residential community of Tacachale.
  • This work involves using independent judgement and making executive decisions as it relates to the day-to-day operations in the residential areas.
  • Notably during these times this position is responsible for responding to and taking the lead in managing all incidents involving residents and staff, to include but not limited to taking statements and rearranging staffing to resolve conflicts and/or potential problems.
  • Responsible for composing reports that may be used by Employee Relations to address or correct employees. Taking the lead role in assembling and disseminating incident report packets to the appropriate personnel for review on the next business day.
  • Validates that staffing schedules are balanced and adequate in all areas utilized by residents and staff to include temporary reassignment of staff to provide coverage, ensure safety standards are met and active treatment is ongoing; verify respectful interactions between all individuals are evident; and that the supervision and care of the residents is continuous.
  • Conduct onsite observations of residential living areas, worksites, and activity areas. Confer with staff and management to identify problems and offer suggestions for improvement. Ensure staff are compliant with performing duties in accordance with policies and procedures while maintaining a high visibility in areas to be monitored.
  • Prepares and submits monitoring reports of findings to facility management and supervisors within 24 hours of monitoring. Reports containing time sensitive or critical information will be prepared and submitted to the recipients on the next business day.
  • Provides daily consultation and assistance to management and staff in the day-to-day operation of service programs and responsibilities.
  • Performs on-site analysis of operational problems of service programs and provides results to supervisor and/or facility management.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor or administration. This may include conducting coaching, training, and in-services for direct care staff. Assist with special projects as required.

Position Requirements:

  • A valid Florida Driver's License. If hired with an out-of-state license, a valid Florida State driver's license must be obtained within 30 days.
  • Corrective Lenses Restricted license are acceptable provided the driver wears the corrective lenses while operating a state vehicle.
  • Must maintain certification in Prevention and Safety Strategies (PASS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.

  • Use a telephone, computer, fax machine, scanners and copy machine.
  • Use problem-solving techniques.
  • Work independently.
  • Plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Communicate effectively exhibiting strong customer service skills.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Perform day-to-day job functions and specialized training activities such as Prevention and Safety Strategies (P.A.S.S.) and Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) using proper body mechanics to include but not limited to lifting 40 pounds, squatting and getting down on your knees.
