The work you will do:
Load Rating and Design Engineer and District Six/Director of Operations/District Maintenance/Districtwide Bridge Inspection & Repair
This position will ensure the safety and reliability of Florida's bridge infrastructure through complex load ratings, structural analyses, and field inspections. It provides engineering expertise for bridge repair and rehabilitation projects, oversees project scopes and costs, and ensures construction aligns with standards. This role helps maintain a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation network.

Annual salary range: $101,609.17 - $131,494.22
A competitive area differential (CAD) additive in the amount of $4,222.40 will be added to the annual salary.
Your specific responsibilities:
Review load ratings on Category 1 and 2 bridges and bridge rehabilitation projects. Perform in-house bridge load ratings on Category 1 and 2 bridges, including highly complex structures. Analyze complex structures such as segmental bridges, curved steel structures, etc. using finite element analysis methods or other 3D modeling software to determine structural capacity. Conduct Structural Reviews and Structural Analyses as necessary when Critical Deficiencies are identified in the field. Act as the professional engineer in responsible charge on selected projects. This requires incumbent to sign and seal documents as needed.
Assist in the determination of scopes for the Bridge Repair Work Program. Conduct field reviews to determine appropriate repair materials and methodologies for bridge repair and rehabilitation projects. Review material submittals and determine suitability. Discuss findings with the Feasible Action Review Committee.
Review all bridge repair project phase submittals in the Electronic Review Comments system. Provide reviews on behalf of the Structures Maintenance office for other bridge-related projects. Sit on Technical Review Committees for consultant evaluation and selection.
Monitor bridge repair construction projects. Conduct field reviews to review repair construction projects to ensure conformance with specifications and plans as necessary.
Serve as Project Manager on bridge repair and rehabilitation projects.
Review bid tabulations, statewide cost histories and other data to determine appropriate unit costs for creating Long Range Estimates (LRE) on bridge repair projects. Review consultant LRE and estimates for completeness and accuracy.
Assist in negotiating manhour estimates for task work orders (TWO) on the Miscellaneous Design Consultant contracts. Assist in executing TWO on other TWO driven contracts.
