Human Resource Specialist/HR-SES

This open competitive advertisement is for a SES (Selected Exempt Service) position on the Attendance and Leave team located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL.

The mission of the Attendance and Leave Department at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to manage and oversee employee attendance and leave records accurately and efficiently.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Job Duties:

  • FMLA and Leave Training: Oversee, process, and assist in training new staff on FMLA, Parental Leave, and Leave Transfers.
  • Guidance and Compliance: Provide guidance to ensure adherence to state and federal laws, state personnel rules, and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Primary HR Contact: Act as the primary contact for the Office of Human Resources regarding FMLA, Parental Leave, and Leave Transfers.
  • Collaboration and Liaison: Collaborate with field staff, employees, and supervisors on leave timesheets, and represent the Office of Human Resources as the liaison with the Department, People First, and other entities.
  • Procedure Development and Backup Support: Develop written procedures, maintain tracking logs and reports, ensure timely completion of required forms, and serve as a backup to the Human Resources Manager I.

Requirements:

  • Must possess a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Must have at least two (2) years of professional experience in human resources or personnel.
  • Must have Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) experience.
  • Must have Sick Leave Request and Donation experience.
  • Must have Parental Leave experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Processing FMLA/Parental Leave and Leave Transfers experience.
  • Experience working in the State of Florida's People First System.

Additional Information:
