DJJ Operations Coordinator

The Hope Navigator – a professional position in the Office of Youth and Family Advocacy, which is responsible for assisting families in addressing youth behaviors that are preventing the family from reaching family stability and impacting youth success. The Hope Navigator provides impactful case management to address barriers and lead to self-sufficiency. Connects families and youth in a meaningful and solution focused way to care partners and service providers to meet the unique needs of the youth and family. The successful candidate must possess the ability to deliver excellent customer service and provide a family-centric approach to case management while being solution driven. They must have organizational and prioritizing skills and the ability to multi-task. They must effectively use Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams, and SharePoint.

Conduct an extensive family-centered assessment to identify barriers impacting family stability and preventing self-sufficiency. Provide the family with referrals to partners that can assist with services to meet their individual needs. Completes referrals to community resources based on the need's assessment, identified barriers, and goals set in the pathway plan. Assists families with identifying and engaging family and community supports, as well as discussing and making referrals for immediate service needs. Assists families in identifying and applying for appropriate benefits and services, offering referrals to other state agencies and other resources to support individuals and families as necessary. Maintains frequent communication with families, reassesses needs, and completes additional referrals and updates to the care plan, if needed. Acting as a navigator for families regarding available program services and optional methods of attaining family stability and self-sufficiency goals. As part of Activate Hope, the Hope Navigator must be prepared to actively assist with hurricane and disaster recovery efforts in affected areas. This role requires working in high-pressure environments, making quick decisions, and collaborating closely with individuals in crisis, community organizations, and state partners to ensure immediate and effective support.

This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that disaster-affected individuals and families receive timely resources, guidance, and support to aid in their recovery. This is an independent, dependable and highly professional position. The incumbent must have the ability to perform duties remotely. The incumbent must be able to follow instructions, communicate effectively, use correct grammar, prioritize work assignments, use a personal computer, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, work independently, pay attention to detail, consistently meet deadlines, prepare travel requests and reimbursement vouchers. The positions being hired for are regionally based and are responsible for coverage of multiple circuits and regions. Be able to complete requests and travel requests and reimbursements in a timely fashion. Be able to attend weekly, monthly meetings, committees, and community activities as needed. Identifies and maintains a working knowledge of available community resources to meet the individual needs of each family and ensures the connection of families to relevant community resources and support. Performs other duties as requested by the Secretary, Deputy Secretaries, Chief of Staff and Deputy Chief of Staff.

Ability to demonstrate empathy and active listening. Ability to demonstrate solution focused problem solving. Ability to effectively work and communicate with others. Ability to travel and work independently. Knowledge of, and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing. Skilled in providing customer service, use of office equipment and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), SharePoint and Microsoft Teams. Must possess a valid driver's license with clearance to operate a state vehicle.

Preference will be given to candidates that are proficient in Motivational Interviewing and have experience with the Hope Florida program.

This is a full-time Career Service position. The incumbent will be required to work 40 hours a week. Schedule may be flexible depending on case load. All prospective candidates will be subject to a sex offender check, criminal background checks, (state, local and national) and pre-employment drug screening for direct care positions. DJJ participates in E-Verify (Employment Eligibility). When identified on a position description, a valid driver's license is required. If initially hired with an out-of-state license, the Florida resident must obtain a valid Florida state driver's license within 30 days of hire. Licenses suspended or revoked for any reason, work permits (Business purpose/Employment/education only licenses) and some types of restricted licenses are not acceptable. Licenses that have Corrective Lenses Restriction are acceptable, provided the driver wears corrective lenses while operating the vehicle.
