Traffic Operations Center Operator

Lee County is looking for a detail-oriented Traffic Operations Center Operator to help monitor and manage traffic systems across the county. This is a technical role focused on keeping traffic flowing smoothly and assisting with planned and unplanned traffic incidents.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor road conditions using CCTV cameras, PTZ surveillance, and other traffic detection systems
  • Operate computer-based traffic management systems
  • Assist with traffic incident response and recovery alongside local and state agencies
  • Report equipment or system issues and request repairs
  • Answer calls from the public about traffic concerns and log all reports
  • Keep records of incidents and response times
  • Coordinate with agencies such as FDOT, FHP, fire rescue, and local law enforcement
  • Ensure the accuracy of roadside message boards and update them as needed
  • Monitor HARS radio traffic and follow established procedures

Education, Experience, Licensing:

  • High school diploma or GED (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • 1 year of related work experience in a technical or transportation-related field, call center, or closely related field
  • Strong attention to detail and communication skills
  • Ability to work with various computer systems
  • Valid driver's license preferred

Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM

This may include temporarily being assigned to work and performing duties outside of the normal scope of their position, location and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens.
