Ops Park Attendant

This position is centered on the day-to-day park operations at Ruth B. Kirby Gilchrist Blue Springs State Park. The successful candidate will be required to perform various duties including cabin and facilities cleaning, park maintenance, grounds keeping, park protection, and visitor services. This position is part-time, temporary, working 29 hours per week. The selected candidate will be required to work rotating shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends. This position does not include health benefits or paid leave. Opportunities will exist for additional training and experience.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of maintenance trades, resource management techniques, and providing top-notch visitor services through the cleanliness and maintenance of facilities and high-quality visitor contact experience. Skills in computer applications such as MS Office, computer usage to fill in short reports and communicate effectively with internal emails and timesheets, operating trucks, tractors, operating mowers, standard power, and manual tools. Ability to perform cleaning and grounds keeping duties, perform routine inspections, identify and investigate problems, maintain facilities and equipment, work rotating shifts including nights, holidays, and weekends, communicate verbally and in writing, perform physical labor and janitorial duties, use power/electrical/gas tools and equipment, deal with visitor inquiries in a tactful, efficient, and courteous manner, maintain good public relations, prepare and keep accurate reports, follow verbal and written instructions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with others, understand and apply directives, policies, laws, and regulations.
