Ops Medical Technologist I
The Florida Department of Health in Seminole County is seeking a temporary medical technologist. This position offers a base salary of $16.71/hour. The location is 400 W. Airport Blvd, Sanford, FL 32773. The posting will close on 09/12/2025.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
- Vital signs & specimen collection: Collects patients' blood pressure, temperature, pulse oximetry, respiratory rate and heart rate. Collects samples and specimens of blood, urine and other bodily fluids ordered by clinical representative as required for analysis.
- Administrative & clerical: Inputting of laboratory test requests/updated into HMS, LabCorp, and Quest Programs, assisting in the receipt and distribution of laboratory test results, and ordering/purchasing of laboratory/administrative supplies. Completes data entry as needed for client registration, scheduling, and service coding entry.
- Packaging & shipping of specimens: Maintains responsibility in the proper wrapping, packaging, labeling, and shipping of all laboratory specimens being sent off site for analysis.
- In-house tests: Conducts in-house testing, to include pregnancy tests, clean catches, and finger sticks. Maintains responsibility for initiating, analyzing, completing and logging results within the tracking mechanisms implemented.
- Equipment validation: Reviews and verifies laboratory equipment, ensuring consistent testing and analysis of results.
- Outreaches: Participates in health fairs and community events to provide clinical services, education and other functions as needed.

- Principles of biology, chemistry, and physics.
- Medical technology practices and procedures.

- Operating laboratory and scientific equipment for conducting tests.

Qualifications:
- Minimum: Willing to work before, during, and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency.
- Preferred: Verifiable clinical laboratory experience in a medical setting, experience in phlebotomy, phlebotomy certificate or willingness to take the course within 6 months of hiring.
