Ops Government Operations Consultant I

The State Personnel System is an E-Verify employer. This position is a full-time, in-office position housed at the Florida Department of Health in Tallahassee, FL but is a statewide regional position. Since job duties require the employee to be in the office, teleworking is not an option.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • This is a highly professional position within the STD Section. This position will serve as a dedicated enhanced gonorrhea interviewer for the STD Surveillance Network (SSuN) grant.
  • This position is responsible for keeping daily track of their randomly assigned gonorrhea cases, attempting to contact each patient multiple times as necessary, and conducting in-depth interviews with patients who agree to participate.
  • They will document each activity conducted with date and time in Florida's STD Surveillance System (STARS).
  • The individual will require excellent customer service, organizational, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • The incumbent in this position requires minimal supervision and makes independent decisions in providing direct disease and public health awareness intervention activities to CHD STD Prevention and Control Programs.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, multi-line telephone, scanner, printer, and facsimile.
  • Ability to prioritize workloads.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to communicate with others in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to ensure proper completion of work assignments.
  • Ability to establish a good working relationship with co-workers.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to public health surveillance and disease investigation.
  • Ability to practice good work ethics including reporting to work on time, wearing appropriate FDOH identification at all times, and treating others with dignity and respect.

Qualifications:

  • Prior Disease Intervention Specialist (DIS) experience.
  • Prior data entry experience.
  • Prior customer service experience.
