This is a full-time other personal services (OPS) position within the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Division of Plant Industry. The position requires an associate's degree or six (6) months of experience in apiculture, environmental protection, regulation, or health; one of the physical or natural sciences; agriculture; or engineering. A valid driver license is also required. Occasional travel is necessary.
The duties of this position include inspecting honey bee colonies for destructive and regulated pests and diseases, conducting field diagnostic tests, implementing regulatory actions, maintaining accurate records, and staying informed of all beekeeping matters. The position also involves public outreach about honey bees and attendance at meetings or workshops of the apiary industry.
