Ops Agricultural Technician II
This is a full-time other personal services (OPS) position with the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, Division of Plant Industry. Contact Matthew Smith at (727) 241-6600.
Minimum requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license. Candidates must complete all fields in the candidate profile and provide verifiable information on work history, education, and qualifications.
Additional requirements include occasional travel, including overnight stays and up to two weeks on emergency programs. The use of artificial intelligence tools to answer qualifying questions or participate in interviews is strictly prohibited.
Job duties include exotic fruit fly detection, public relations, field diagnostic and sampling, regulatory activities, and emergency programs. Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include completing accurate records, recognizing citrus varieties, working outdoors in various weather conditions, dealing with the public and team members professionally, reading and drawing basic maps, and lifting 25 lbs. and bending repetitively.
