The Operations Analyst I serves as the liaison to the Northwest Rural Area of Opportunity. Responsibilities include coordinating with internal and external partners, providing technical assistance to local governments and businesses, maintaining good working relationships with partnering agencies, preparing reports and analyses, reviewing external best practices, representing FloridaCommerce on committees, coordinating with communications staff, providing input on policies affecting designated rural areas, and tracking contacts and projects in the Northwest Rural Area of Opportunity.
Knowledge of economic development concepts and the state's economic development programs and functions. Skills in both written and verbal communication and public speaking. Skills in computer programs including MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as online survey tools and web meeting software such as GoToMeeting, Zoom and Microsoft Teams. Ability to conduct research and analysis and produce reports based on findings. Ability to establish effective working relationships and negotiate effectively. Ability to apply critical thinking for planning and economic development issues. Ability to independently exercise sound judgment performing duties. Ability to handle multiple projects and manage time efficiently. Ability to provide technical assistance to local governments. Ability to provide effective presentations to elected officials and staff. Ability to manage state grants.
As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. Minimum: Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department. Regular business hours of operation are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM EST, Monday - Friday. Pay: $34,760.04 Annually.
