IT Specialist

Our IT teams play a critical role in ensuring reliable operations across our nationwide laboratories and facilities. We are seeking an IT Specialist to join our Tampa support team, providing essential technical expertise for our Southeast Division laboratories.

Position Overview

The IT Specialist will provide first-line technical support for Windows desktops/laptops, local and network printing, networks (LAN, WAN, WLAN), and specialty/proprietary lab systems. This role requires strong troubleshooting skills, the ability to resolve hardware, software, and networking issues, and the capacity to support specialized laboratory systems in a mission-critical environment.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide first-level technical support for Windows desktops/laptops, local and network printing, networks (LAN, WAN, WLAN), and specialty/proprietary lab systems.
  • Support daily operations of the Tampa laboratory (400+ workstations) and divisional IT infrastructure across ~2,900 devices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues completely and accurately; provide training to end-users as needed.
  • Process hardware/software requests including ordering, setup, installation, and testing.
  • Route advanced/second-level system issues to the appropriate internal teams.
  • Support networking and infrastructure within divisional boundaries.
  • Assist with specialty laboratory system support and configuration.
  • Travel occasionally to branch and stat lab locations; some overnight stays required.

Schedule & Work Conditions

Standard hours: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (exempt/salaried role). Extra hours may be required based on business needs. Occasional travel, including overnight stays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience providing desktop, network, or IT support in a corporate or laboratory environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, and networking (LAN/WAN/WLAN).
  • Experience with hardware/software installation, setup, and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a high-demand environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting laboratory or healthcare IT systems.
  • Familiarity with specialty or proprietary lab applications.
  • Previous experience in a large-scale, multi-location IT support environment.
