Government Operations Consultant I

This position is located within the Bureau of the Comptroller's Revenue Management Section and provides a variety of accounting skills and performs balancing operations.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the reconciliation of the computerized Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) records for the Department of Education to the State CFO ledgers.
  • Assist with reconciling G5 and PMS to FLAIR.
  • Assists with the preparation of the agency Statewide Financial Statements, Florida's Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
  • Assists with the expansion option and object code requests.
  • Assists with the inter/intra-agency transfer reconciliation and TR1 reconciliation transfers with vendors.
  • Assist with reviewing trail balances for correct general ledgers, categories by fund and object codes balances.
  • Assist with monitoring construction contracts, general fixed capital asset account group (including CWIP) to ensure proper recording of capital assets.
  • Assists with the Textbook Bid Trust Fund – Ensures GR transfers are made, year-end payables are set up and reconcile to program balances.

Who We're Looking For:

  • Necessary skills include analyzing and interpreting financial reports from the Florida Accounting Information Resource (FLAIR) Subsystem, and using this information to reconcile the department's accounting records to the records of the Central Accounting Component of the FLAIR Subsystem.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of planning, administering or evaluating educational programs.
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities relating to the improvement of operational and management practices.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials.
  • Ability to formulate policies and procedures.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently.

  • Annual Leave - All full-time Career Service employees filling established positions earn annual leave in varying increments dependent upon years of creditable service.
