Role Summary

The FinOps & Site Reliability Specialist (SRE) is a hybrid strategic and technical role that ensures cloud cost efficiency and platform reliability across Azure, AWS, and GCP. This professional will work closely with Finance, Engineering, and Operations to establish visibility, accountability, and optimization of cloud spend while embedding SRE principles such as automation, observability, incident management, and error budgeting into operations. The role demands a blend of financial acumen and deep technical reliability engineering skills, making it ideal for candidates who understand both cloud economics and cloud-native reliability practices.

Responsibilities

Lead cloud financial governance across Azure, AWS, and GCP. Design and implement chargeback/showback models for business accountability. Build and enforce tagging policies for cost allocation. Provide budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis of cloud spend. Conduct cost optimization through right-sizing, reservations, savings plans, and spot/preemptible usage. Engage in vendor negotiations and optimize enterprise agreements. Educate and coach engineering/delivery teams on FinOps best practices.

SRE Responsibilities

Define, measure, and manage SLIs, SLOs, and SLAs. Architect resilient and scalable multi-cloud platforms using Kubernetes, serverless, and VM-based workloads. Automate infrastructure deployment using Terraform, CloudFormation, and ARM templates. Implement and maintain observability stacks (monitoring, logging, tracing). Drive incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortems. Improve CI/CD pipelines to increase deployment speed and reduce risk. Apply chaos engineering practices to validate system reliability. Integrate security and compliance controls into pipelines and infrastructure.

Required Skills

Proven expertise in multi-cloud environments (Azure, AWS, GCP). 3+ years hands-on experience in FinOps/cloud economics. 3+ years in SRE/DevOps/Infra roles with measurable reliability outcomes. Strong knowledge of cloud pricing models and cost optimization levers. Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and IaC (Terraform, Helm, CloudFormation, ARM). Skilled in scripting/programming (Python, Go, Shell, PowerShell). Experience with observability tools (Datadog, Splunk, Prometheus, Grafana). Strong incident management and on-call experience. Experience with FinOps frameworks (Densify) and cloud cost governance methodologies across k8s environments. Hands-on experience with Harness IDP for streamlined developer workflows and cost integration.

Preferred Skills

FinOps Certified Practitioner / Professional. Azure/AWS/GCP Architect or DevOps Engineer certification. Experience with Apptio, CloudHealth, Cloudability, or similar tools. Exposure to compliance frameworks (ISO, SOC, HIPAA). Familiarity with GreenOps/FinOps automation. Expertise in Kubernetes cost optimization including resource quotas, vertical/horizontal pod autoscaling, and cluster right-sizing. Proficiency with Splunk Observability (Splunk O11y) for full-stack monitoring and APM.
