This is a paraprofessional position providing basic social services to individuals and/or families in need. Examples of work performed include assisting counselors in maintaining caseloads, helping clients complete forms, arranging for social services, providing materials on nutrition and parenting, ensuring timely immunizations, coordinating transportation, maintaining client files, and making referrals for emergency and ongoing services.
Knowledge of basic child care and elderly care practices, effective communication, community resources, program objectives, and basic arithmetic is required. Skills in basic counseling techniques, accessing community resources, and interviewing clients are also necessary. Additionally, the ability to plan, organize, coordinate work activities, and establish working relationships is essential.
Minimum qualifications include three years of experience in a social, economic, health, or rehabilitative setting, or a high school diploma and two years of experience in a similar field. College or vocational/technical training can substitute for required experience.
