Flock is looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer to add to our Hardware Engineering design team. This team is responsible for all physical design, testing, and hardware product delivery to manufacturing. This role will make an outsized impact by contributing to the electrical design of the Flock Safety product suite and its associated peripheral components. You will work closely with internal and external engineering teams to deliver high quality, mission critical electronics.
Please note: While we are a remote first company and the typical work week can be conducted remotely, this position will require travel for 1-3 weeks quarterly.
BSEE with 5+ years of industry experience
PCB Circuit Design production experience from product level requirements, including schematic capture, component placement, libraries, layout, and simulation
Familiarity with Altium Designer
Familiarity with mobile electronic product architectures and main components, such as SoCs, SOMs, MCUs. Familiarity with associated memory interfaces such as DDR, UFS/eMMC
Design familiarity of efficient mobile power delivery networks including switching and linear DC-DC converters
Knowledge of standard peripheral interfaces, such as USB3.1 / 2.0, I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, etc..
Understanding of SerDes and common high-speed peripheral interfaces (USB/USB-PD, PCIe, HDMI, MIPI CSI/DSI, etc..)
Familiarity with IoT & wireless interfaces (4G/5G MIMO, Wifi/BLE MIMO, GNSS/GPS, associated antennas), including RF implementation and awareness
Familiarity with consumer electronics certification standards such as FCC, UL, and PTCRB
Additional relevant technology concepts may include:
Sensors (CMOS image sensor, MEMS, motion, light, microphone)
ML ASICs
Audio DSPs
ADCs
Industrial solar panels
MPPT-tracking charge controllers
Custom battery packs (chemistry and BMS)

Experience with SI/PI board-level verification and product-level validation plan creation and execution for EVT, DVT, PVT design phases
Hands-on experience with PCB/Electronic system bring-up, debugging, and functional verification
Experienced in using testing and validation lab equipment: Oscilloscopes, Multimeters, Function Generaters, E-loads, logging, thermal chambers, Spectrum Analyzers, etc..
High level familiarity with software engineering principles for IOT devices
Experience working cross functionally with power, mechanical, firmware, software, and cloud teams during product development
Motivated and result-driven team player with strong communication skills, demonstrable sense of ownership

Conduct a dive of shipping and planned product architecture

Contribute immediately and incrementally to an active design, test, or debug investigation
The First 60 Days
Completely understand the high level electrical architecture of the existing Flock ecosystem. Recognize its role in our highly vertical customer offering.
Become involved in ongoing product design effort as needed - join project standups and related channels to observe Flock's design methodology.
Make progress with ongoing product validation efforts - write or execute functional and/or performance tests on an active EVT/DVT/MB dev
90 Days & Beyond
Become a true and independent DRI (Dedicated Responsible Individual) within the team, having full ownership of a design workstream, and impacting decision making and cross-functional implementation/productization plans
Demonstrate full proficiency of all Flock development tools and demonstrate awareness of all Flock development processes.
Become highly available and communicative as a resource to your immediate team and cross functional stakeholders
Assume full ownership and responsibility of outcomes to the business - your impact at Flock will strongly influence the health of the business, positive outcomes to customers, and real-time reduction in societal crime.
