Flock Safety is expanding its Drones as First Responder (DFR) initiative and is seeking a UAS Hardware Validation Engineer to bridge the gap between mechanical design and real-world deployment.
Your mission is to develop and execute the rigorous test plans that validate our structures and subsystems. You will own the "torture testing" of our aircraft—subjecting them to extreme environments and vibration profiles to ensure they meet the Performance Requirements Document (PRD). You are the feedback loop that tells the design team exactly why a component failed and how to iterate for mission-critical reliability.
Validation Strategy: Proven ability to develop and execute comprehensive test plans for mechanical structures and high-performance aircraft subsystems.
Environmental & Stress Testing: Hands-on experience with Environmental testing (ingress, thermal extremes) and Vibration/Shock testing to identify resonance issues or structural fatigue.
Design Iteration: Ability to work side-by-side with Design and Systems teams to interpret test data and suggest hardware iterations that align with the PRD.
UAS Performance Analysis: A high-level understanding of quadcopter subsystems and how environmental factors impact flight performance.
Hardware Troubleshooting: Experience "turning wrenches"—you are comfortable with aircraft assembly/disassembly to diagnose failures post-test.
Tools: Proficiency with Solidworks (for design review) and Arena PLM. Familiarity with data acquisition tools for vibration and thermal monitoring.
The First 30 Days: Immerse yourself in aircraft design. Demonstrate a functional understanding of our quadcopter subsystems while supporting ongoing test execution and environmental setups.
The First 60 Days: Collaborate across teams to refine vibration and environmental test methodologies. You will produce your first formal written test reports that directly influence design iterations.
90 Days & Beyond: Reach full autonomy. You will own the end-to-end validation lifecycle: writing the plan to match the PRD, executing the stress tests, and partnering with design engineers to harden the aircraft for the field.
In this role, you'll receive a starting salary between $90,000-$150,000 as well as Flock Safety Stock Options.
This is a full-time, onsite role based at our manufacturing and engineering facility in Atlanta, GA. Because this position is deeply integrated with our production line and flight testing operations, you will be expected to be onsite Monday-Friday. If you thrive in a high-energy, "hands-on" environment and are excited to be at the heart of where our technology is built, you'll fit right in.

Carta Tax Advisor: Employees receive 1:1 sessions with Equity Tax Advisors who can address individual grants, model tax scenarios, and answer general questions.
ERGs: We want all employees to thrive and feel like they belong at Flock. We offer three ERGs today - Women of Flock, Flock Proud, and Melanin Motion. If you are interested in talking to a representative from one of these, please let your recruiter know.
