Job Description
Serve as technical leader for a team developing and optimizing processes related to the calibration and manufacture of high-volume thermal-imaging products. The role requires broad knowledge of infrared imaging systems, strong communication & interpersonal skills, and a demonstrated facility for leading an engineering team. The Systems Engineer in the calibration-science role works closely with product development teams and product manufacturing teams and has ultimate technical authority for specifying and implementing processes which ensure high-quality, high-yielding thermal-imaging products. The ideal candidate will have experience in both design and manufacturing.
Must be US Citizen or PERM Resident
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Define and manage hardware and logic requirements for automated manufacturing stations, verify compliance against them
- Provide technical coordination of a team of hardware and software engineers to define team strategy, establish priorities, identify interdependencies, resolve issues, and manage risks
- Lead problem-solving activities focused on containment and resolution of emergencies such as process excursions, yield issues, and requirements / priorities change
- Coordinate with product management, camera design teams, and manufacturing teams to prioritize and achieve technical milestones
- Document decisions, results, lessons learned and best practices
- Collaborate with other systems engineers in peer-reviews, in definition of best practices, and in coaching / training activities
Job Qualifications:
- BS or higher in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science or other related technical field. Ideal candidate will have a solid background in both hardware and software systems and good general knowledge in thermal and mechanical engineering.
- Strong initiative & drive. As technical leaders of complex development projects, Systems Engineers must prioritize, multi-task, and lead by example. A growth mindset is essential to stay abreast of technology trends, take advantage of lessons learned, and acquire new approaches.
- Stellar oral & written communication. The Systems Engineer generates much of the process documentation and has oversight responsibility for all of it. He/she is also the focal point for technical coordination.
- Demonstrated authority as a problem solver with a track record of innovative solutions.
- Previous Systems Engineering experience is highly advantageous. Prior participation in product development and/or high-volume manufacturing is also very valuable to this role.
- While previous experience with thermal imaging technology is not required, ability to learn on the job is critical to success. Familiarity with optics, sensors, electronics, mechanical design, software development, and/or advanced signal processing will provide a head start to the knowledge ultimately needed to lead development of our future products.
- Expertise in data analysis, ideally with experience using image-analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python) and data-analysis software (e.g., JMP, EXCEL/PowerBI).
- Systems Engineers must be onsite as required to lead project teams.
- The role has no direct reports. However, successful Systems Engineers excel at leading development teams and providing technical oversight.
Salary Range: $113,600.00-$151,400.000
The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate. Actual compensation for successful candidates is carefully determined based on several factors including, but not limited to, location, education/training, work experience, key skills, and type of position.
