Director – Software Engineering (Fintech Platforms)

Calling all innovators – find your future at Fiserv. We're Fiserv, a global leader in Fintech and payments, and we move money and information in a way that moves the world. We connect financial institutions, corporations, merchants, and consumers to one another millions of times a day – quickly, reliably, and securely. Any time you swipe your credit card, pay through a mobile app, or withdraw money from the bank, we're involved. If you want to make an impact on a global scale, come make a difference at Fiserv.

At Fiserv, we build the platforms that move money and data securely, reliably, and at scale. In this hands-on leadership role, you will drive the engineering and operation of secure, scalable fintech platforms, guiding cross-functional teams across architecture, delivery, and production support. Your work advances modernization, reliability, regulatory compliance, and cost efficiency to deliver exceptional client outcomes.

What you'll do:

  • Lead multiple engineering teams through the full SDLC—design, build, test, deploy, and operate—using Agile, Waterfall, and hybrid methodologies.
  • Architect and deliver secure, scalable platforms for high-volume financial transactions, ensuring HA/DR and audit readiness.
  • Own release management to enable smooth, timely, and low-risk deployments with automated pipelines and progressive delivery.
  • Drive application and platform modernization: consolidate systems, define technology and data architecture roadmaps, and enable cross-platform data flow, real-time analytics, and AI integration.
  • Implement cybersecurity best practices, proactive risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance (e.g., PCI DSS); integrate fraud detection and secure data transfer mechanisms (e.g., MoveIT SFTP).
  • Partner with Product, Compliance, Infrastructure, and Support to align priorities and deliver exceptional member experiences; provide clear, data-driven communications to stakeholders.
  • Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement leveraging automation and DevSecOps practices.
  • Responsibilities listed are not intended to be all-inclusive and may be modified as necessary.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 10+ years of experience engineering distributed systems and services using .NET (C#, ASP.NET) and Java, including API design, secure coding, and performance optimization.
  • 10+ years of experience architecting fintech platforms on hybrid environments (Windows Server, Linux/RHEL, AIX) and cloud (Azure or AWS) with high availability, disaster recovery, and scalability patterns.
  • 10+ years of experience implementing and auditing security and compliance controls aligned to PCI DSS, SOX, and SOC 2 with DevSecOps, threat modeling, and secure SDLC.
  • 8+ years of experience with relational databases including Microsoft SQL Server (indexing, query optimization, performance tuning) and data integration/ETL.
  • 8+ years of experience in CI/CD and release management using GitLab (or Azure DevOps), automated testing, and blue/green or canary deployments.
  • 8+ years of experience with enterprise scheduling and secure file transfer (CA7 or equivalent, MoveIT SFTP) and messaging platforms (IBM MQ).
  • 6+ years of experience with ITSM and monitoring tooling (ServiceNow, Dynatrace, Splunk) and enterprise identity/security solutions (CyberArk, SailPoint).
  • 6+ years of equivalent combination of educational background, related experience, and/or military experience

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience modernizing legacy applications (e.g., VB6/Delphi) into contemporary architectures and services.
  • Executive-level stakeholder management and communication across complex program portfolios.
  • Hands-on leadership with GitLab, Jira, ServiceNow, Workday, Confluence in large-scale delivery environments.
  • Domain expertise in payments and open banking APIs; familiarity with NACHA/PCI reporting and audit workflows.
  • Leading cross-regional teams through incident communications, post-incident reviews, and reliability programs (SLIs/SLOs).

Sponsorship:

  • You must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization to be considered for this role. Individuals with temporary visas including, but not limited to, F-1 (OPT, CPT, STEM), H-1B, H-2, or TN, or any candidate requiring sponsorship, now or in the future, will not be considered for this role.

Benefits at Fiserv:
