Senior Data Engineer - Remote Eligible

Job Title

This is a remote role that may only be hired in the following locations: NC, AZ, FL, TX.

This position is responsible for development/support of Enterprise data processing systems through enhancement of related software and processes. Develops software and procedures that improve processing capabilities. Analyzes, codes, tests, and implements in coordination with management, associates, and end users. Serves as production system support by resolving issues and ensuring ongoing functionality. May oversee the work of less experienced analysts or assist in special projects as needed.

Responsibilities

Data Integration

Responsible for building and maintaining data platform that supports data integrations for Enterprise Data Warehouse, Operational Data Store or Data Marts etc. with appropriate data access, data security, data privacy and data governance. Create data ingestion pipelines in data warehouses and other large-scale data platforms. Create Data Ingestion pipeline for a variety of sources – File, DB, API, and SharePoint. Build reusable Data pipelines / frameworks using any scripting language.

Data Analysis

Sources, compiles, and interprets data. Performs analysis for accuracy and efficiencies, effectively communicates analysis output.

System Testing

Thoroughly tests systems to ensure proper installation of new software, system changes, and overall efficiency. Evaluates and conveys testing results. Performs coding and assists in implementing system modifications and enhancements.

Business Support

Provides technical support by performing coding, ensuring processes run smoothly, and working to continuously improve processing capabilities. Works closely with business units and operation teams to support their business objectives.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree and 4 years of experience in Data engineering, big data technologies, cloud platforms OR High School Diploma or GED and 8 years of experience in Data engineering, big data technologies, cloud platforms

Preferred Area of Experience: Data Lake, Data Platforms, Data Products, Data Warehousing, Data Modeling, Data Consumption, ELT, ETL, SQL, AWS, Snowflake, Python, dbt(Data Build Tool), Data Vault Modeling, Azure DevOps or similar version control, SQL Scripting.

Technical Skills:

• Data Engineering:
• Experience in designing and building Data Warehouse and Data lakes. Good knowledge of data warehouse principles, and concepts.
• Technical expertise working in large scale Data Warehousing applications and databases such as Oracle, Netezza, Snowflake and SQL Server.
• Experience with public cloud-based data platforms especially Snowflake and AWS.
• Data integration skills:
• Expertise in design and development of complex data pipelines
• Solutions using any industry leading ETL tools such as SAP Business Objects Data Services (BODS), Informatica Cloud Data Integration Services (IICS), IBM Data Stage.
• Knowledge of ELT tools such as DBT, Fivetran, and AWS Glue
• Expert in SQL - development experience in at least one scripting language (Python etc.), adept in tracing and resolving data integrity issues.
• Data Model: Knowledge of Logical and Physical Data Model using Relational or Dimensional Modeling practices, high volume ETL/ELT processes.
• Performance tuning of data pipelines and DB Objects to deliver optimal performance.
• Experience in Gitlab version control and CI/CD processes.
• Experience working in Financial Industry is a plus.
• Knowledge of System Life Cycle Development methodology (like Waterfall and Agile).
