Senior Data Engineer
ISS Delivery provides the design and delivery of all changes in processes and/or technology solutions that support the growth for Fidelity's Global Investment Solutions & Services business (ISS). We support Investment Management, Asset Management Operations and Distribution team primarily located in London, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Toronto, Australia, Singapore and China.
We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Engineer to join our team, focusing on designing, implementing, and maintaining robust data solutions primarily using Oracle technologies while integrating with modern cloud services. This role bridges our existing data infrastructure with evolving cloud-based systems, requiring both deep database expertise and adaptability to new technologies.

Key Responsibilities
- Ownership of the design and development of end-to-end data solutions for Oracle-based systems
- Provide technical oversight to a small team of data engineers as part of project delivery
- Manage stakeholder expectations and articulate trade-offs, timelines and decisions
- Create and maintain efficient data pipelines for extract, transform, and load (ETL) processes
- Implement data quality controls and validation processes to ensure data integrity
- Lead collaboration with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications
- Document database designs, procedures, and configurations to support knowledge sharing and system maintenance
- Work closely with Data Architects to collaborate on the long term data strategy of the team
- Integrate Oracle systems with cloud services, particularly AWS S3 and related technologies
- Lead code reviews and contribute to define practices for database development
- Support migration of data and processes from legacy systems to modern cloud-based solutions
- Work within an Agile framework, participating in sprint planning, refinement, and retrospectives
Essential Skills and Experience
- 7+ years of experience with Oracle databases, including advanced SQL development
- Experience leading a team of engineers to solve a business problem with data solutions
- Strong knowledge of data modeling principles and database design
- Proficiency with Python for data processing and automation
- Experience implementing and maintaining data quality controls
- Experience with AI-assisted development (GH copilot, etc..)
- Ability to reverse engineer existing database schemas and understand complex data relationships
- Experience with version control systems, preferably Git/GitHub
- Excellent written communication skills for technical documentation
- Demonstrated ability to work within Agile development methodologies
- Knowledge of investment management industry concepts, particularly security reference data, fund reference data, transactions, orders, holdings, different asset classes and fund accounting
Desirable Skills and Experience
- Experience with PL/SQL development (stored procedures, functions, packages)
- Knowledge of SQL Server and T-SQL development
- Experience with ETL tools like Informatica and Control-M
- Unix shell scripting skills for data processing and automation
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for database code
- Experience with AWS services, particularly S3, Lambda, and Step Functions
- Knowledge of database security best practices
- Experience with data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI)
- Background in mentoring junior developers or knowledge sharing
- Experience of front office investment risk and/or analytics systems
