We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our growing Omni POD engineering team. In this role, you will guide architectural and technical decisions, coach and develop engineers, and ensure delivery of scalable, maintainable, and high-performance systems. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful products while fostering a strong engineering culture and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead and manage a team of 5–6 engineers, providing coaching, career development, and performance feedback.
Drive architectural direction and ensure solutions meet scalability, performance, and reliability goals.
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define product requirements and translate them into technical roadmaps.
Oversee application design and delivery, ensuring clear documentation (design docs, flow charts, sequence diagrams) to support on-time, high-quality releases.
Partner with senior engineers to create and optimize database schemas, queries, and models for performance and scalability.
Maintain high engineering quality through best practices like automated testing, peer reviews, and CI/CD pipelines.
Facilitate technical planning, resource allocation, and prioritization to align with business objectives.
Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies, bringing innovative approaches to the team.
Promote a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
Qualifications:
Experience: 10+ years in software engineering, with at least 2 years in a people management or technical leadership role.
2+ years of experience in managing engineers direct.
Proven track record in building and scaling backend services and distributed systems.
Strong knowledge of database design, modeling, and optimization (SQL and NoSQL).
Experience with AWS and modern infrastructure tools (Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform).
Familiarity with microservices and event-driven architectures.
Technical Skills: Background in Java, Golang, Elixir, or Scala (hands-on coding not primary focus, but technical depth is essential).
Knowledge of modern development practices (CI/CD, Git, containerization).
Exposure to frontend development (React) is a plus.
Soft Skills: Strong leadership, mentoring, and coaching abilities.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical teams.
Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and adapt to changing requirements.
