Commissioning Engineer

The Commissioning Engineer is responsible for creating complete project commissioning plans, resourcing plans, and commissioning budgets/proposals based on a clear understanding of the owner, facility and equipment functional requirements. Plans include sequenced activities, schedules, and documents, as well as conducting on-site/jobsite training, coaching, and auditing of jobsite commissioning activities. The ideal candidate must be proficient in the use of a PC and Microsoft Office Suite, the ability to understand one-lines, schematics & drawings is necessary, knowledge of electrical terminology and components is necessary, knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC) is required.

Minimum Requirements

Education: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or Bachelor of Science Electrical Engineering

Experience: 3 to 8 years of related experience

or

Education: Associate of Applied Science Degree

Experience: 5 to 12 years of related experience

Travel: 20-40%

Work Schedule: This position works between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM, Monday-Friday. However, work may be performed at any time on any day of the week to meet business needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with Preconstruction Managers and Project Managers at the beginning of projects to define Cx requirements and establish plans to complete commissioning documentation and other deliverables.
  • Create LOTO plans and start-up scripts according to customer requirements and specifications.
  • Develops detailed procedures, checklists and commissioning test scripts to document the equipment performs to the specifications.
  • Assist Commissioning Site Lead with establishing structure and training for implementing LOTO and start-up scripts.
  • Conducts field surveys, collects and enters data to ensure that equipment conforms to operational standards and customer requirements.
  • Provide support material or reports to Project Managers as required.
  • Provide reports that documents the equipment functions to applicable standards as well as customer requirements.
  • Provide support for field commissioning activities through research and addressing needs during the commissioning process.
  • Provide guidance to office and field teams to ensure start-up activities comply with specifications, codes, and customer requirements.
  • Work closely with the Safety department to develop Lockout / Tagout procedures and integrate them into commissioning procedures.
  • Participates in customer / project interviews.
  • Provides training for other technical personnel where applicable.
  • Certifies Commissioning Site Leads.
  • Assists Commissioning Manager with establishing project commissioning budgets.
  • Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
