Technical Leadership Role
Together with a Product Owner, you will co-lead the tribe that delivers the product capabilities public transport agencies need to adopt our automated ticketing technology in their regions. This includes the FAIRTIQ mobile apps and SDKs, an end-user portal, a fare calculation and optimisation engine, invoicing, and more. In this role, you are a people leader and a hands-on technical leader. You help 20+ engineers across four squads reach their full potential, while maintaining a healthy, high-performing engineering culture aligned with our values. You will drive strategic alignment, guide technical architecture and delivery, and advance FAIRTIQ's mission of simplifying access to public transport. Your technical and people leadership will directly influence FAIRTIQ's success and future growth.
Role Responsibilities:
- Ensure the performance, reliability, and scalability of backend systems, mobile applications, and web apps that are critical to FAIRTIQ's day-to-day operations and long-term success
- Guide architectural and technical strategy across the Delta tribe and in coordination with other tribes
- Define and execute OKRs with Squad Leads and Product Owners
- Lead continuous improvement of our software delivery processes, observability stack, and infrastructure
- Act as a mentor and coach to engineers and engineering leads
- Partner with stakeholders across Product, Solutions, and Ops to align technical strategy with business priorities
- Oversee the technical implementation of cross-cutting initiatives, such as Developer Experience, platform modernization, and service reliability
Who We Are Looking For:
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science or another related field
- 5+ years of experience as an engineer in computer science
- 3+ years of experience in a technical leadership role
- Deep understanding of modern software architecture, and software architecture practices such as micro-services, domain-driven design, event-driven architecture, and CI/CD
- Strong experience mentoring senior engineers, also outside your core expertise area, and leading cross-functional, and cross-teams initiatives
- Skilled at strategic planning, priority setting, and cross-departmental coordination
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
- Fluent in English (spoken and written)
