The opportunity

As a Senior Analyst, you will work in one of our Service Delivery Centers that is made up of high-performing US-based resources, who work closely with our experienced client serving professionals, to deliver project-based work and managed services to our US-based Financial Services clients. You will play a key role in defining and reviewing how Private Equity ("PE") Fund advisors meet regulatory, tax, and financial statement reporting requirements, using our new, proprietary EY-developed technology platform. Top tier PE fund managers are assessing and onboarding to the EY platform, which brings together investment risk data, transaction, and holdings data into a single platform for workflow management, transparency, and accountability to lower reporting costs and streamline their fund accounting and fund financial reporting processes. Your key responsibilities

  • Understand the intricacies of PE funds and how their unique features and entity structures translate into daily accounting requirements.
  • Utilize the Investran Accounting Platform to store fund, investor, and investment-related reference data necessary for ongoing Accounting Operations teams.
  • Execute Investran processes for partner transfers, investor closes, accounting period closes, investor reporting, and other PE-related accounting operations.
  • Participate in activities needed to record data related to fund events, including fund launches, liquidations, and pipeline monitoring.
  • Accounting Book of Record ("ABOR") maintenance activities including GL account and transaction type creation and review, including related policies and procedures.
  • Review journal entries and related support documents for quarterly fund valuation entries.
  • Review the work of other team members with diverse backgrounds to ensure accuracy and completion according to regulatory reporting policies and procedures.
  • Drive high quality work products within expected timeframes and budget. Monitor progress, manage risks, and ensure leadership is kept informed about progress and expected outcomes.
  • Resolve any exceptions/negative trends in Reference Data Operations and continuously develop and implement possible solutions to streamline existing processes.
  • Bring strong attention to detail, problem solving and critical thinking to ensure work is complete and accurate and escalate issues to leadership when appropriate.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Strong understanding of Investran Accounting Platform and its functionalities, demonstrating the ability to leverage its capabilities effectively within EY's operational framework.
  • Solid understanding of PE fund operations and asset management industry.
  • Exhibits a proactive approach to exploring various features and tools within Investran, identifying innovative ways to apply them for reference data management and optimization.
  • Demonstrates advanced proficiency in Excel, enabling the creation of comprehensive trackers and models that support data analysis and decision-making processes.
  • Capable of managing and analyzing large datasets, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in handling complex information.
  • Highly detail-oriented, with a keen eye for precision, ensuring that all aspects of data management and reporting are meticulously addressed.
  • Think creatively and outside the box, developing unique solutions to complex challenges, thereby contributing to continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • An understanding of administrative processes and ability to execute detailed procedures based on written policies and procedures.
  • Deliver client requirements in a regulatory driven environment, process improvements, and understand operationally complex fund accounting principles.
  • Develop relationships with team members across multiple geographic locations and time zones.

To qualify for the role, you must have:

  • A solid understanding of the Investran Accounting Platform including direct experience working within Investran on Private Equity funds.
  • At least 3 years of work experience in fund accounting operations, especially PE funds.
  • Working knowledge of common and complex PE fund structures and related understanding of how fund setups impact accounting operations.
  • A bachelor's degree in business, accounting, finance or related discipline.
  • Analytical skills, especially those related to fund accounting and asset management.
  • Strong proven communication skills demonstrated through effective writing and presentations to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Effective leadership, project management, and organizational skills.
  • An understanding of financial products and services, including those related to depository institutions, asset management, securities, financial technology, and/or private equity.
  • An interest in working in an environment which encourages continuous learning, development and identification of opportunities for improvement of individual and team performance.
  • A willingness to travel on an exception basis for client needs.

Ideally, you'll also have:

  • An interest in technical accounting concepts.
  • Understanding of fund legal documents (LPA, PPM) and fund structure charts.
  • Experience overseeing the work of junior team members including coaching and mentoring.
