Senior Team Leader, Financial Advisory Services - Transaction Services

As a senior team leader of Transaction Services, you will be a professional member of our Financial Advisory Services team. The team operates mainly through four pillars: Enhanced Business Information and Accounting Processing, Finance Function Optimization, Treasury Management, and Transaction Services. We understand the evolving role of finance leadership and work with our clients to automate and streamline efficiency, control, and compliance functions, while improving the value of the finance function for the organization. Leveraging our substantial investments in technology, knowledge, and learning resources for our advisory professionals, you will be part of a team that provides financial advisory services that meet the needs of clients and their stakeholders.

As a senior team leader of Transaction Services, you will be expected to establish and cultivate both internal and external relationships to build and maintain a strong business development strategy for our Transaction Services pillar. You will contribute to establishing and expanding long-term relationships with clients and networks and maintain relationships with other EY groups to meet client needs. Leveraging your relationship-building and project management skills, along with your financial knowledge and experience, you will provide clients with innovative business advice by adopting best-in-class service delivery methods and practices to meet clients' organizational needs focused on initial public offerings (IPOs), acquisitions, and divestitures. You will actively participate in improving transaction preparation, operational and reporting efficiency, and sound decision-making. You will dedicate the majority of your time to supporting local business development activities and mandate teams and collaborating with a wide range of clients from various sectors to provide professional services.

Responsibilities regarding clients:

  • Lead external consulting mandates focused on transaction planning and execution (including IPO planning and execution or acquisition and divestiture planning and execution), study internal financial and accounting processes of a company, and propose solutions to clients to increase transaction value/benefits, improve processing efficiency, promote automation, or redesign current processes to better align with future operating models;
  • Participate in business development initiatives, including service offering development and proposal development, responding to RFPs, and participating in oral presentations;
  • Stay updated on market trends and regulatory changes and their impact on our clients;
  • Have specialized knowledge in our Transaction Services to provide appropriate market access and expertise in this area;
  • Manage the financial and commercial aspects of mandates by organizing staffing, tracking fees, and communicating issues to project leaders;
  • Establish strong internal relationships within the national and global SCCF group and EY service lines, including Consulting, Tax, and Assurance groups.

Responsibilities regarding staff management:

  • Prioritize people development through effective coaching, constructive workplace feedback, and mentoring;
  • Foster an innovative and inclusive environment focused on teamwork;
  • Effectively motivate teams with diverse skills and backgrounds;
  • Conduct performance evaluations and contribute to staff performance feedback;
  • Lead or participate in people initiatives, including recruitment, retention, and training of SCCF group professionals;
  • Maintain a training program to ensure continuous skill development;
  • Understand and respect workplace procedures and policies and lead by example.

What we are looking for:

  • More than ten years of relevant experience; or a graduate degree and approximately seven years or more of relevant experience;
  • Professional title and/or qualifications, i.e., CA, CPA;
  • Deep knowledge of: IPO readiness assessment and management of activities throughout the IPO lifecycle; prior IPO experience, an asset;
  • Planning and integration of acquisitions in all aspects of organization/people, processes, and technology, including project management and execution;
  • Planning and management of divestitures in all aspects of organization/people, processes, and technology, including project management and execution;
  • Experience in audit or business in the closure of financial statements and the establishment of internal controls regarding financial information (experience in compliance with Regulation 52-109 or Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, an asset);
  • Experience in technical accounting related to IFRS and US GAAP.
  • Strong analytical skills focused on profitability analysis and financial modeling;
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to be critical, think creatively, think outside the box, and tackle new challenges;
  • A solid track record within a top-tier consulting firm or equivalent significant experience in the industry, an asset;
  • Experience in leading and delivering transformation programs or projects, including all stages of evaluation, design, and implementation;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English, French proficiency is an asset;
  • The ability to manage and produce high-quality work products within deadlines and budget;
  • Knowledge of business processes and related work experience, including order-to-cash, procurement-to-pay, and asset management processes;
  • The ability to lead and work in a team with a collaborative spirit;
  • A strong interest in teamwork, people development, and leadership, along with experience in managing and mentoring less experienced staff members and supervising a team;
  • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills;
  • High motivation and the ability to work independently;
  • Availability to travel on short notice to meet client needs.
  • Ideally, you also have:

    • An ability to work autonomously in a dynamic, team-oriented environment where things change rapidly;
    • The ability to build credibility and trust-based relationships quickly;
    • Proven ability to generate additional revenue from current accounts and to recruit new clients from senior executives within large organizations.

    The salary range for this position in British Columbia is $95,000 to $180,000. Individual salaries within this range are determined based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to training, experience, knowledge, skills, and the city where the job is located.
