A valid certificate for Health Care Aide or preferably Personal Support Worker from a recognized school of training
Must be able to communicate in English including written documentation. Has an acceptable standard of behaviour and appearance.
Strong problem-solving skills in performing individualized residents' plans of care
Proven ability to accurately record care given to residents
Strong team player and a positive team spirit within the department and centre
Effective interpersonal relations with team members, residents, families and other departments
Good attendance records – a critical element for primary care goal
Good knowledge of the Resident's Bill of Rights and endeavours to respect and promote it
Interest and track record of continuing education through attendance at in-services and outside educational opportunities
Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the residents and the center
Proven ability to care for residents' with dementia according to the gentle care philosophy
